Here is an excellent short film (in 2 parts) produced by Encyclopaedia Britannica in 1967; made for young people, it follows three young boys on a crossing from New York to Genoa aboard LEONARDO DA VINCI:

OMG this is a real treasure! It's so rare to find anything on LDV. She is my all time favorite ship simply because there was no better looking ship, and because she was my first! I guess I'm a little bias.

I was probably around the same age as those boys when I sailed on LDV, and wow did that footage bring back memories. I remember those decks, the pools, the Bridge, the elevator, and the corridors. Like them, I did as much exploring as possible, going everywhere even where I was not supposed to.

One thing I noticed in the video that was not actually located on LDV is the theater. LDV did not have a two level theater like that. I think that footage was taken onboard the MIKE or RALPH.

None the less, a fabulous video and a wonderful way to start my week.

Very, very nice! I enjoyed the two videos. I only crossed once on the Leonardo and it was the roughest crossing I ever experienced......Genoa to NYC. We spend one entire day sitting on the floor of the ballroom. It was much too rough to walk around. They served sandwiches to those who could still eat.

Great film! It transported me back aboard the Leonardo and the wonderful transatlantics I made on her. Thanks for the opportunity!
The theater belongs to Michelangelo, also one of my favorites.

wow it brings back memories of my trip as a 10 yr old in 1966 one month at sea on gugliemo marconi and then another month or so back on galileo galilie we were about same age and did same as american boys marconi and galileo were simlilar to ldv a bit newer you know lift was exactly the same ribbed aluminium sad to think most of the adults on that trip are probably dead now after all it was 44 yrs ago
