Wow, this new ship is truly disproportionate. Too tall, too short, and too skinny. The area above the bridge is really bad. It's a shame as we finally get to see a completely new design and it's pretty much a disaster. Ernie

You do realize that that video image is distorted, and the ship is not actually that tall and skinny, right?

Yes, I realize the video is somewhat distorted, but none the less the ship is still disproportionate. Too tall, too short, and too skinny. The funnel is a joke as well. As I mentioned before, this ship reminds me of a Scandinavian ferry more than a cruise ship.

I have to agree with Ernie , that is one hell of ugly ship , though i cant vouch for the inside? (it may be perfect inside). But it does look like during the building process that they had an extra budget surplus and decided to just keep adding decks to the top that dont belong there.

Also the eye and lips on the bow look really silly , sorta looks like a "Drag Queen" cruise ship

I do think she needs a bigger funnel, but the rest seems OK. It seems to be the angle of some of these shots. Looking at some pics of Millie leaving Southampton today, she looks tall and thin in the same way, just she has a decent funnel.

In fact in this pic she looks pretty bad all round. Give AIDAdiva a better funnel and she'd be nicer overall.

I agree with Ernie that from the video she's one of the most ugly ships I've ever seen. In fact she's worse than Pride of America. Those decks above the bridge look like a last minute addition.

I also agree with Pam that ships can look very different from different angles. I found some Aida Divastills on the net from someones Photo Gallery. Generally she does not look so bad to me.

I think it's pretty well known that Celebrity's M-Class ships will win no exterior beauty contests. They have been discussed many times in the past and what they have to do with AIDA DIVA I don't know? At least Celebrity's ships are gorgeous on the inside. I don't know if the same could be said of AIDA DIVA? I also don't think the M-Class ships look like a ferry like AIDA DIVA does.

Looking at those photos Malcolm I do think the deck above the bridge should have been well set back and not so prominent from a fwd view. It's almost as if it's a thick set of eyebrows. Perhaps if it sloped afterwards instead of fwd it would have looked better too?

My post above gives the connection, I won't repeat as it's been said.

She doesn't look as bad in those pics, but she is still an ugly duckling. Those windows over the bridge look horrible. Disney pulls this off in a much more successful way.

Also, her front end looks a lot like her back end. Take away the little funnel and it would be hard to tell which is which. Maybe she can travel in both directions like the Staten Island Ferry! She really has no mast and that adds to the problem. You have this very tall superstructure and then it just ends on top with a very flat surface, and nothing to break it up except for a dumpy funnel which hardly helps.

Another oddity that doesn't help matters are the two decks in the aft section above the balcony cabins that have no windows. It's just bare steel. I can't imagine what is located there that no windows would be required so high up and for such a great expanse. It only adds to the perception that this ship is way too tall for her length.

Ernie

Ugly ship and she in fact takes the award away from Pride of America. Celebrity's Millie class looks like Miss Universe compared to this new ship. Fugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never thought she was good looking. I think if they got rid of the deck on top of the bridge she would look much better.

I actually like the looks of the M class. as long as you can't see the horible stern.

I honestly don't think she is too bad. Maybe one floor too tall but that is the price for squeezing in as many balcony cabins as possible.

As a sacrifice I would be happy for AIDA to swap Pacific Dawn with Aida Diva. She would undoubtedly be a step up from what we get downunder.

I am quite fond of the frivalrous paintwork on Aida's ships. Quite humorous, dare I say it - almost un-German. In comparison the paintwork on the Millenium is boring and not at all flattering.

It was actually the Arosa Sky the ship that put the Arosa Line under.

What is the actual relevance of that particular clip at the end? or is it just supposed to show the changes in 'Time'. You clearly see "Arosa Line" on the side of the terminal.

That's a great link on the life of Arosa Sky Ben, thanks for that.
