Arriving Spain from USA, looking to return via Queen Mary 2.

Please comment on the service and scheduling. It appears only one ferry, with sailings each way only every four days.

Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks!!

Bilbao to Portsmouth, yes, one ferry [P&O] with 2 sailings a week. But there is Santander to Plymouth with Brittany Ferries, 2 sailings also.

However, where in Spain? If Barcelona I would suggest you take the train, far more comfortable and faster journey. Train 'hotel' to Paris and the Eurostar to London, see here. No difference in price.

I assume that you want to avoid flying or at least travel by sea. However for cheapness and speed no-frills flights with the likes of easyjet.com, ryanair.com and others, are difficult to beat.

You can fly from Bilbao, Barcelona, Madrid and many other cities in Spain to London often for £50-60 pp (one way). The flying time is just a few hours. This probably explains why some of the ferry routes are struggling.

Thanks Pam and Malcolm for your help. We have a "weight" problem, but, the airfares from MAD to LON are so reasonable, the overweight charge for about 2 extra 20kg bags makes it the "best bet"!
