I asked this question a few years back and was told that by now, some women would be cruise ship captains - has it happened yet, or will it, or not?

If there are any, at least they won't have to worry about parallel docking w/bow and stern thrusters.

I am sure there is some out there. At my school, California Maritime Academy, we have several female professors who were captains out in the industry.

I can parallel park a car and back into a parking spot a lot better than I've seen some men try and do it.

I have seen a woman with a captains rank but never as the master of the vessel. She hosted a few Captains Table on the Mille last Feb.

Oh I believe you. I have a friend (male) who cannot parallel park for the life of him. Often I have to tell him to get out and I will park it. Now I am terrible at judging distance and w/the awful plastic 'bumpers' on cars today, you need to know the distance between you and the next car or cha-ching a $300.00 ding! Thankfully my new car has a warning 'beep-beep' when I get to close. I wonder if the ultra modern newbuilds have this feature.

I think there is a new Mercedes that can supposedly parallel park by itself.

Can't say I have heard about any female Captains on Cruise ships but there are some in the marine industry, I met two on ferries between the UK and Europe.
There are plenty of women cadets and lower ranks so I would think it is only a matter of time for the cruise industry.
