I will start this topic in hope that we will get knowledge from other crew about them ship life and to give a idea to the cruise talk members about the life behind the doors with the sign crew only .
Before i make my post i will like to warn any crew mebers (active or former) to don't publish any technical, structure or lay outs of any ship . I ask you this as we don't know ho may read this and in order to keep us and passengers safe in the future we will have to keep this kind of informations confidencial . Thank you .

I will take the Norwegian Dawn as first example of crew life.
The crew have 3 mess rooms for crew, staff and officers .All crew can use the passengers restaurants in special occasions, a permit must be issued before by superiors. The ship have also a crew shop named Dawn Mart opened at sea with very low prices, minimum items are sold on board . Every crew member have a crew card witch allow him to use it in the shop and crew bar . The crew bar is opened every evening for sale of soft drinks, beer and wine and same other snack food items . The bar feature a crew disco (own crew dj’s ) with a non smokers section , tv’s , games and wireless internet for laptops (a internet card must be purchased). Also computers for access internet (card required) and computers for crew safety training (free access) .On board are 20-40 (estimated) wash machine/dryers on every crew staircase .Every crew cabin have a telephone, shower, tv. Calls directly to home can be made directly from your cabin, income calls to ship to the cabins are connected thru the operator . A gym is available on board including tennis table and fitness equipment. A sun deck crew only is available for crew on the bow of the ship with 2 Jacuzzi, sun beds similar to the passengers. The crew is organized in a crew welfare committee; every crew member is represented by his department representative. They organize crew activities including trips for crew to tourist sites. The ship have his own training center for safety at sea training , weekly safety drills are completed by crew weekly , same crew more often .All new crew is trained on board in case was not trained before to meet international & U.S.Coast Guard safety standards . The ship is on 24/7 maintenance and cleaning schedule including the crew areas, all crew is required to sort any waste before disposal , nothing goes overboard.
The crew quarters are Crew Only . Sorry

Interesting that the crew store is called Dawn-Mart, on every ship I worked on it was called the Slop Chest. Last time I worked on a ship was in 1992, so I'm sure there have been a number of changes in crew life.

The smallest was Regal Empress.
