Some cruise ships fitting with automatic gangway on the lower decks.

I just wondered which ship was the first to have automatic gangway?

I believe Jubilee fitted with automatic gangway but Holiday did not fit it.

I think all the new Hurtigrute ships have them. They make a fair racket in operation, but nifty. Here's Polarlys'..

Caribbean Princess has a very impressive pair of auto gangways which were being partially deployed in Nassau before she was even properly tied up. A Door opens and then a covered gangway comes about 4-5m out of the ship a couple of decks above the waterline.

This is fascinating! Never heard of Automatic Gangways before.
Does the gangway also adjust with the tides?

The Hurtigruten gangways I saw had to be adjusted manually (maybe this has been changed) but the Crown Odyssey / Norwegian Crown gangway is more conventional.

Has anyone got informations on the requirments for gangways in different ports? What I mean how high is the pier, how much space is there to unfold a gangway etc.
Last weekend in Venice I noticed that the Carnival Liberty has comparably low located doors in the hull. (to save space for cabins in the decks above - or maybe also because a "long" gangway at the side of the ship is too slow for such a large ship?)
