I was looking at some pictures of Freeport(Bahamas) and I noticed that the laid-up Premier ships and DOLPHIN V moved around the place. There would be a picture of BRB II next to BRB III and ROTTERDAM V, but then there would be a picture where the BRB II is not anywhere near it. SO my question is, why are the ships switching docks all the times?

Well, they keep leaving for the boneyard for one thing.
The BRB111 left wed. for Alang via Gib and the Canal which is a change from going around the Cape. It'll be interesting to see if she makes it.

BRB III (she's actually lost the THE, the RED, and the III and is now just called BIG BOAT ) is indeed going to be scrapped.

Too bad ...

What other ships might a person see laid up if I'm in Freeport mid-summer of next year? Is there a large scale boneyard there that is seen coming in and out?

I know the ROTTERDAM V will leave for Rotterdam soon. Possibly the BRB II might still be there (she iwlll be auctioneed this month), bt then she might also go to the scrappers. I wonder why Premier laid-u their ships there .

Too bad BRBIII lost so much of her identity, and soon her life.
Any info about when "Big Boat"is due for Gibraltar?
Many thanks,
louy(who only found a Nov. 2002 cruise listing when searching for Gibraltar!)

If she makes it. When, is of course dependent on the tug and the weather and how she behaves as a tow.

Louy, Gib's shipping movements can be found here.
However only the cruise ship schedule gives advance calling dates. The rest are just who's there now/been this week.

I just read today in Maritime Matters that the former Big Red Boat III left Freeport for the breakers under her own power. It's sad to think of this fine ship sailing to her death. I was hoping she would be towed, perhaps spring a leak, and go down like so many have recently. Somehow that seems more fitting than being ripped apart on some beach. I will always remember her as I saw her at dawn one early March morning in 1981 as she was sailing into St. Thomas. Long, sleek, spotless and proud against a Caribbean sunrise.
Rest in peace beautiful Festivale. You will be remembered.

Very well said. I am sad she is going to the breakers, but thats life. I hope MegaWest Cruises buys her from under (can we all dream about it?)...
