Question? Does not the same ship have a very different feel and ambience on a crossing vs. a cruise?

I have crossed and cruised on both the Regatta and the QM2. Both experiences were quite different even though on the exact same ship.

Any feel the same way?

I;ve had a close experience, twice from Athens to Ft Lauderdale on the Prinsendam, starting with traditional Med and Atlantic Isles cruise itineraries and ending with an Atlantic crossing. The feel to the segments was very different, and the crossings were unforgettable despite the lower level of "stimulation." I love the feel of the open ocean, the deep relaxation of sea day after sea day and the suspension of time - soul restoring!

Yes, a crossing has a different 'energy' which stems from the camaraderie among passengers enjoying a 'line' voyage as opposed to leisurely cruising. There's a stronger purpose to a crossing traveling from point 'A' to 'B', it's an accomplishment that is felt among passengers as they look forward to 'the arrival'. The multiple days at sea also feel like time is somewhat suspended. There's more opportunity to relax, sleep in, unwined.
