I can't speak to Ernie, but unfortunately CT is not as friendly as it used to be. A number of regulars have taken a back seat.

(Ernie is alive and still active on other Internet forums )

Ok, it looks like I need to take steps to ensure that people continue to feel comfortable posting on CruiseTalk.

I was hoping that people would be able to figure out a way to control themselves and refrain from attacking other members but apparently that is not happening and I am prepared to take whatever steps are necessary to ensure that people feel comfortable as part of the CruiseTalk community.

Towards that end, I am asking members to post here or contact me privately at the following email address: jkoshuta @ travelserver.net with any suggestions they have about how we can make this a more comfortable place to exchange views and opinions.

If that means suspending certain people's posting privilages that is a steip I am willing to take.

Thank you to all who do visit the site and contribute.

Joe

CruiseTalk was my very first online discussion board at the end of the 20th century. I made mistakes in not knowing that people are reading my posts who do not know me and me not them. What I did learn is that there is always someone smarter than you and knows more. If you are truly smarter than someone else you do not let them know it. Allow others to save face, and the loudest person on the board is the weakest person on the board.

Facebook and Linkedin real names are used and people button their lip. Linkedin is professional so I post very carefully since it is on the internet forever.

Anonymity gives one the ability to broach uncomfortable subjects, and ones that society would jeer at.

I know, watching other posters argue back and forth is very tiresome. Several times I've asked some posters to cool their heels because they aren't happy over what others have said. When I got my WebTV in the late 1990s, this became the first place I came to post as well. I always found it interesting and amusing, but those who carry on a mean spirited attitude need to keep themselves in check; there's no room for it. If you're not happy with what someone said, then refrain from replying to it.

One issue I have w/Liners List is that my replies to current topics rarely appear and if they do, it takes a week or two for my posting to appear. I trim my posts (as required) so there must be another reason. Cruise Talk is a great site but as mentioned there are a few know-it-alls that ruin it for some posters.

I have seen Ernie posting on another cruise board so he is still around and I hope doing well. I wish that he would start posting here again. I miss his point of view. Of course when one has to worry about certain members picking apart your comments, it takes the fun out of posting.

Even though this board is not as busy as some of the other boards, the content here is outstanding and I really enjoy the knowledge that is shared by the members.
