I am next weekend in London.
could one of my fellowCT'ers give me an address of a good maritime bookshop, full of passenger ship books, where you can actually see, feel and browse the many shipbooks one sees on internet ?
It has been a while i was in London, and i have never really known a good maritime bookshop there.

Foyles Bookshop on Charing Cross Road has a section on Passenger ships but nothing like it did in the 1970s, 80s or 90s. In those days Foyles had an amazing collection of limited edition and rare books on passenger ships. I think some had been on those old shelves for years (and I bought many of them!) but today it is modern store w/a much smaller selection. It's still worth a visit!

Foyles went too commercial like most mall bookshops but its size makes it worth looking at.

Among the commercial bookshops I often found better selections of shipping books at Waterstone's giant store on Piccadilly.

But the best -- if it is still there -- is Motor Books. They are an ally off Charing Cross right near the tube station and just behind some of the theatres. Easy walk between them and Foyles. The address is 13/15 Cecil Court. Check that they did not move but that's the place to go in London.

I would also add that the Ian Allen bookshop, Lower Marsh road near Waterloo station is worth a visit for recent books. Focus on the more popular titles, but worth a look. Also advise trotting around Greenwich, some interesting nautical shops there.
