This Carat model is IMHO their best so far, even beats the Voyager. But the price reflects that and the US exchange rates make it rather dear for her home market. HEre's a couple of pics

If you are in the States or Canada, CSC has a new distributer, Morning Sunshine Models, (aka MSM) who are great to deal with. Their email address is www.collectableships.com. They are great models.

Many thanks, Thad and Matts. I check their site. These models are amazing, considering their relatively small scale. But the prices are quite high, I guess it's due to the hand work. Anyway I think it worth it.

Gee, I'm really dissapointed with that place. Look at the doors on the second pic. All crooked. For those prices I would really expect more.
Overall it's pretty nice, but not for the prices they charge.

JSS, you realize the size of these models don't you? That model of the Jewel is only 10 inches or less, so the detail work at that size is incredible. You really don't notice slightly crooked doors in real life. Those pictures shown are larger than life. These models are pretty incredible, though I agree that the latest CSC / Carat Models are very pricey.

Yes, but for $270 I would really expect a nearly perfect model. and those doors are something that would be easy to do, it would jut take a little more time. Don't get me wrong, they're beautiful models, but I think that they are overpriced.

Matts,

are coming to Explosion's Waterline Model Show on May 14th?
It's in Gosport, opposite Portsmouth and I look forward for a nice efrry ride(what might be in port?).
I'd love to see your Portsmouth port arrangement with german cruiseships again!
BTW, it looks like Portsmouth is under attack from German cruiseships this year and French warships too!

Did CSC NOT make a full hull version? They don't have any in stock.

They did produce the fullhull version as well - I have one to prove it! However, it seems new CSC models sell out REALLY quickly!

This past weekend I was able to open up my Jewel of the Seas model by Carat and place it in my collection. It is truely a very impressive model. I also was finally able to get my hands on a CSC Norwegian Sky, which made me happy. Though I think I need to slow down in my collecting, as I have basically run out of room. I have a Freedom of the Seas model arriving soon, but after that I think I will be taking a break from buying unless something especially exciting is available. Happy collecting to the rest of you.

Thad

Here is the collection as of yesterday:

Wow, what a collection!

It you purchased less models you could go on more cruises!

What an awesome collection, Thad!

I've only got 20 1:1250 scale ship models in my collection...

By the way, are you saying "Freedom of the Seas" is available already? Is it CMKR from Germany?

I understand the Freedom of the Seas model, from CMKR, should be available in the next few weeks. I am looking forward to see how different the model looks from my Voyager of the Seas.

Thad

PS. Yes fewer models, could mean more cruises, but I don't unfortunately always have the time for the cruises, while the models always make me happy when I see them. And I have been collecting them for many years, since I was a teenager, so the collection has had time to grow...
