As Christmas approaches, a desperate search over Soton and Pompey model shops, toy shops and markets have started.
My local models shop announces a return of the Triang 1/1250 models which is a good sign after the Airfix and Revell QM2.
But still no r/c Models as seen for 2metres tugs in Southampton last year, Nauticalia's RNLI boats, or small tacky market Police boats(complete with dogs and fishermen).
Almost want to stick a laminated card model of a liner on top of my rc boats!
Keep writing to your local model shop and toy makers!

If you look for R/C models (I posted this already)....

you get plans here:

Navimodellisti Bolognesi

another source for plans and hulls (nearly model kits):

Steinhagen

...and if you prefere model kits:

Kong Harald

Hanseatic

As I am already repeating myself: I am looking for plans (GA & body plans) of the Crystal Harmony, Galaxy, Crown Odyssey and Ryndam (Atlas) - Club Med 1 would also be apprecitated!
Any information concering the color scheme of the Cristofor Colombo, Illiria and also the Eugenio C. would also be helpful! (photos etc. - I found already a lot in this forum, thanks again for posting!)

Don't hold your breath for the Triang QM2. I've read elsewhere that it is delayed. However the Classic Ships version is reportdely due in December (they are showing the model at the end of this week in Hamburg according to their German site), following on from Jewel of the Seas in November and Voyager back earlier. Could be a bumper christmas in 1/1250!

First pic of CSC's QM2. To small a pic to really pick up all the detail, but looks promising to say the least.

Thanks a lot Thad!
I have been told to attend the Explosion show at Gosport(Hamphire) in April 2006.
Just bought a very good value 1/1250 Andrea Doria for which I hope to make a hull.
Ernst,
Thanks FYI.
I'll see what I can dig within my hundreds of plans photocopies...
The November issue of Model Boat feature Andrea Doria and an advert for Robbe with a kit rc Model of Hanseatic which I saw in Pompey!
But I still want to hear about those incredible value toys found at markets for £50-80.....

What plans do you have? Just deck plans from brouchures or `proper` plans? (general arrangment, side views, lines (body plan))

These are great models and at around 200 Euro's are not so expensive when you see the high level of detail. However they want 300 for the Quenn Mary 2.

Has anyone here built or seen a completed Revell 1/400 scale QM2. At 3' long, that is one huge model that I am reluctant to take on.

I believe several of us have including myself. I am very detail oriented and it took me just over 2 months. I remember there was an earlier thread of the QM2 Revell model and discussions on it. From around Dec/Jan timeframe...

However the end results are staggering, and mine sits in a custom made display case at a TA in Charlotte, NC.

229 for the waterline version. $800m for the real thing!. It is certainly not a cheap hobby this, what with QM2, Jewel, Color Fantasy all due out and Sea Venture just reissued. More ebay sales for me I think!

Thanks for all your information.
What about cheap rc toys?
All I found in Southampton's Gamleys(not Hamleys, soon to be visited in London) was a harbour tug by Dickie at £89.
Fully remote controlled, with incredible details, this 3'(foot) is wonderful value!
I wish some Toy makers made a Carnivale approach of liners toys!
In the days of ssFrance, one could have a free model when buying washing powder or petrol!
By now, we should have rc QM2's in most toyshop.
What is it with Revell and Airfix distribution?

Matts,
do you only collect the CSC and Carat models or do you buy models from other makers. Konishi has a Diamond Princess you might be interested in, as it is a really nice model as well.

Well Malcolm, the short answer is no. The long answer is that Holsatia made a model of the Royal Viking Sky, which could easily be repainted in Fred. Olsen Livery if you can find one. I bought one on the internet about 6 months ago. You can see the model in the upper left corner of this "harbor" diaroma.

Not fussy about the manufacturer, Diamond Princess is in my collection - next to her near sister (Grand) - it's just Carat are my favourite for the detail. I love the pirate ship on their Superstar Libra childrens pool!.

Yes the CSC / Carat Superstar Libra is a very nice model. I am still on the lookout for a Norwegian Sky by CSC. I would like to be able to have that model to go with her "sister" the Costa Victoria by Bille. Have you ever been to this site? It has a good message board with news about upcoming releases and models that are for sale outside of ebay.

I have a small collection of 1:1250 ships.

Most of them are Triang, but there are some others.

Heres a list of what I have:

- Canberra
- France
- United States
- Queen Mary
- Queen Elizabeth
- Oriana
- Royal Yacht Britannia
- S.S. Nieuw Amsterdam
- N.S. Savannah
- Queen Elizabeth II
- Lady Moura
- Eco (Katana, Enigma)

Also have lots of harbour pieces like piers, terminals etc.

If anyone knows of Voyager Class (Explorer of the Seas if possible) or Disney Magic/Wonder models, post up.

Moorhouse, 'Classic Ship Collection' do a very nice 'Voyager of the seas' - but it's a limited addition, so you need to buy one fast if you can afford it! They have a full-hull or waterline version.

There is a CM-KR model of the Voyager of the Seas on ebay right now for a pretty fair buy-it-now price. Here is the pic
