Just saw this picture at Simplon Postcards, isn’t that a great and different way to see cruise ships!
Does anyone know of other interesting and out of the ordinary ways where you can see ships.

Best, Onno

Nice photo. Rob has some taken from the cable car in Barcelona on his site. It wasn't running due to strong winds when I was last there The bridge in Vancouver too? Barryboat has some in a gallery taken from a paragliding trip IIRC.

Thanks for sharing your picture Phil.

Actually amazing how small the ships look seen from above while they look “huge” when you are standing on the dock side. Maybe in the future there will be cable cars on the mega ships themselves.

That would be a great idea Onno!
i have always wished this whilst cruising!
The sad thing about being aon a cruise is that you don't see much of the ship's exteriors!
I actually took a picture of Regent Star in Montego Bay from the paraglider with my Nikkon camera.
None survived due to rough landing!
However, I wonder if any pics were taken from the Verazzano bridge in NY? Or Sydney?
I used to steam under the later one on ssSky Princess and wondered..
ssLewis, looking for that early arrival shot in Tauranga

I have a photo somewhere, which I shall post when I find it, of, what is to me a great example of how small even great ships look from afar.

It is of outbound illuminated QE2, at dusk, as taken from the "Windows on the World" resturant at the 110-story level of the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

It was not very good, thick windows and all, but it, of course is of special significance now.

Is it actually possible to photograph from Verazzano bridge? (okay without making a turmoil)

Cambodge, your QE2 story reminds me of a picture I took of the QE2 which I made with my zoom lens at it’s maximum zoom. The picture it self is not that good but by zooming at that distance almost cleared all perspective which has the result that her funnel looks huge!

With the photo of the Cable Way in Singapore, from Sentosa Island over to Singapore,
I seem to recall that many years ago it was involved in an accident,
when a ships mast hit the wire and left cars dangling above the harbour.....
Does any else recall this incident?

Jan. 30, 1983: Two cable cars plunge 200 feet into the sea after an oil rig mounted on a ship hit the steel cables of the overhead system linking Singapore with the resort island Sentosa. Seven people die.

Thank you Gohaze,

I remember Media coverage,
but could not recall the exact events.
Seem to recall many heroic events from that day as cars that where hanging on the wire ,
were saved ,
by people climbing out and lowering themselves,
and others to saftey.
