Why was my thread on Favourite and Least Favourite Shipyards deleted??It was a discussion on opinion, not fact or anything else. I didn't really badmouth any shipyard, especially since I said that it was not true with all the products of the yards listed, and did have exceptions. Was it an accident or did I brake a rule, I certainly can't think of any I have.

Yes, only Joe and I can delete posts.

Over the years, very few posts have actually been deleted. Perhaps a few more have been edited. This is normally because they contain offensive material and are often insulting to other members.

Religion, politics and sexuality issues often raise the most steam, not ships! We prefer not to moderate any posts at all, but there does reach a point when we have little choice.

I know Joe has been doing a little house-keeping recently. Maybe he has deleted a few posts. I do not know why.

I believe Joe is out of the office for a few days, but I’m sure he will be only to happy to discuss his actions, when he returns.

Commodore,

When I read your post I could not understand what you were asking about? The way it was worded was so confusing I deleted the post.

Do you really want people to tell you which shipyard is their favorite? I'm not sure many people can even name a shipyard, much less a favorite one.

If that is what you want to know you are welcome to repost in Technically Speaking as the participants in that forum might be able to offer an opinion.

As a general comment, I think some folks here are getting carried away with the "favorite" theme. We have an annual survey - coming next month - that tracks most of this information on a regular basis.

A word of advice, anyone asking about favorite cruise ship carpet manufacturer runs the risk of getting their post yanked.

In my opinion, only one cruisetalker makes a big deal about other people's sexuality.

Dear Joe, you almost blocked one of my more intelligent posts.

Today, I picked up the book "Empress of Britain".
40,000 tons, built 1930 and sunk 1940 by combined Condor and U boat attacks.

A good read and lots of great photographs of a classic liner.

To the point. Page 26 shows the Mayfair Lounge. It states;- " The carpet, woven in Persia, was a 16th centuryPolish design."

I believe that this is well worthy of discussion by our resident panel of experts.

Please dont yank this one.

I wonder which is everybodies favourite deleted post?

My favourite happend a few years back when joe dared to post his picture. Somebody replied with the simple statement; "You ugly son of a bitch"!

Joe set a record for the fastest deletion of a post! I could not help finding this funny.

It’s sucks living in such a different time zone! I always get to miss all the good topics!
Anyway, I’m sure that Joe’s picture could not have been worse then Malcolm’s monkey picture.

Best, Onno

Well Joe, thanks for your answer. I was never angry, just puzzled. If you look at it in some ways, we can be less stringent than some boards I've seen. I remember the monkey picture, and for the newer mebers it's in the album.
