The ship, under contract with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, was originally designated for the P&O Cruises Australia brand.

"We are truly thrilled to have another Vista class ship joining our fleet," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. "Carnival Vista, which was named the best new ship of 2016 in the Cruise Critic Editors Picks awards, has proven to be the most innovative and popular ship we've ever introduced. Consumer, travel agent and media reaction to the Vista class design has been extraordinary and we are elated to have two additional ships in this spectacular series now joining our fleet – Carnival Horizon, which is scheduled to be delivered in March 2018, and now a third in 2019."

They always seem to get the short end of the stick... Though, I hope the figure out a livery for all the ships to be in unison!
Complaints have appeared about the ex HAL Cruises ship now renamed ' Pacific Eden ' as some cabins have no refridgerators plus the airconditioning is reported as not working correctly.
Now they are getting the 2008 built ' ex Carnival Splendor ' which was nick named the ' Pong Ship ' when she broke down off the coast of Mexico and had to be towed to an American port.
Food was dropped on to her decks by helicopter, while being towed, as the food on board was no longer fit to be used due to the loss of power plus the toilets and air conditioning were also not working resulting in many passengers sleeping on deck !
Obviously no longer popular on American cruises so send her to Australia and again rip off the passengers in that area.
At least RCI Cruises have some of their latest cruise ship now operating from both Australia and New Zealand with the ' Ovation of the Seas ' under 12 months old ! .
