While obviously not for everyone (no in-cabin big-screen TV, no floor shows, no alternative restaurants, no zip lines or rock-climbing walls), from my point of view it was fabulous. Good food served hot from the galley that's only a few steps from your table. Surprisingly comfortable bunks. A/C (cabins only). The sea, right there, all of the time. Sails. History. Great captain and crew. Inexpensive or free excursions on islands not overrun by passengers from mega-ships. Very good snorkeling.
Can't recommend it too highly for anyone who loves ships and the sea and who has a good sense of adventure.
Best regardsRené

Pam, while there were usually a couple of sails up whenever under way (for stability?), we sailed without engine help twice that I recall, one morning and then the last afternoon/evening. I don't think they ever used more than about 6 of the 9 sails, and with the resulting speed of around 3 knots we weren't going to get anywhere very quickly.
