Does anybody know something about that? I'm been hearing this rumours for a while now and it seems that something will be announced regarding this early next week.

Last week Pullmantur cancelled the emarkation of the new crew that would join her for the next brazilian season...

Hmm, would be a strange move in my opinion. A 25-year old ship with very few balcony cabins, really not up to the same level as the two former R-ships that Azamara runs. Only her size is right.
And this for a line that until recently was planning newbuilds (not anymore, according to fellow group member Tim. Apparently the ships would have looked a lot like the new Saga ship).

Yeah, it's odd when you hear it for the first time, but could actually work. Would cost a lot of money to lift her to the level of the R ships, still, I believe she is very suitable. Her size is ideal, and her public areas (they are spacious and full of floor-to-ceiling windows) could be converted to something more upscale. She could also get more balconies. The position of the lifeboats allows it (actually, I always wondered why Royal Caribbean never added them).

Her current cabins are terrible, but they could replace them like they are doing with the Quest and the Journey, and cut her passenger capacity by half in that process. They would spend big bucks, but still less than building a new ship, I suppose.

Take a look, I think they could add balconies where I drew the red strips.

Apparently she was going to be dry docked and refurbished during the next winter season being ready for the 2016 spring/summer season. But now the plan seem to have changed.

They called the crew back to the ship for the brazilian season that seem to be going to happen after all. So likely, yes, it would happen after 2016.

There was a rumor a few years ago that the Empress would join Azamara. It'd be cool if it were true.. I guess we'll find out sooner or later!
