So it has a Seaplex, Royal Promenade, Two70 and something vaguely windjammerish and twin level cabins (not quite loft suites). I look forwards more to the MSC Seaside class since hopefully that will have more fresh thinking.

The old saying was something like copies are the sincerest form of flattery ... well RCI should sue if they are not flattered because this such a blatant copy, the sports area, the promenade, the duplex suites.

RCI copied the promenade themselves

so who own the copyright? the yard, the cruiseline, the naval architects os someone else?

Everyone copies everyone else if something seems to work. Look at the proliferation of rock walls, water slides, etc. between the ships.

MSC seems to be one of the more aggressive though on borrowing ideas that appeared on other ships. NCL's Haven is MSC's Yacht Club; all RCI's ideas from Quantum etc. are there, and so on and so on.

In some cases the shipyards do claim ownership of some of the ideas and recycle them to other ships but a lot of what is showing up here came from ships built at Meyer or Turku in days of yore versus new builds coming from France and Italy.

At least photocopiers and scannners make it easier than when the Soviets were copying the designs for the SST and had to use their little spy cameras!
