From what I heard Colin's plan looked at the number of berths and the financial return on the construction. He also claims he schooled them on the business and financial issues.
The funny side note is when I played the link on You Tube the ad that played first was NCL!

Or the powers that be saw the Epic for the first time and decided that just maybe Colin wasn't the guy to help them design their new baby and after seeing that video I would be inclined to agree with them, it will be interesting to see what they come up with.
