Some are saying it's ugly, it just looks like a natural extension to their current fleet to me. Not really attractive, but it's not bad.

What really caught my eyes however...

quote:
The ships will be 1033 feet long and 141 feet wide, with a gross tonnage of about 167,600 tons, boasting 2,250 cabins for guests, nearly 820 crew cabins, and accommodating 5,700 passengers and 1,536 crew members.

That is insane! The Quantum of the Seas is pretty much identical in tonnage but "only" carries a maximum of 4,905 passengers, while the Norwegian Escape is around 163,000 gross tons with 4,200 berths.

I'm really not sure if that 5,700 passengers number is an error or what, maybe they meant a total of 5,700 people including crew... But if not...

Very good news for Saint-Nazaire shipyard who must delivered :
Oasis 3 --> 2016
MSC Vista 1 --> 2017
Oasis 4 (option) --> 2018
MSC Vista 2 --> 2019
MSC Vista 3 (option) --> 2020
MSC Vista 4 (option) --> 2021

The new MSC ships will have 2 250 cabins, so capacity in lower berth is 4 500 gests. But, MSC explain that they wants many cabins for familly. So, with 3 and 4, perhaps 5 berths more in some cabins, you will arrive to 5 700 passengers.

Don't forget the SNCM ferries and the new Brittany Ferries vessel. It has been a magnificent period of orders for STX France.
