I've now written my first draft of my Getaway review.
It's very long so do NOT attempt to read it, unless you have some time on your hands.

Hi Matt, you are not wrong. I knew the meal would be VERY mediocre, I had the same on-board Epic. I was mentally prepared for it.
I just like magic shows - period! Even if they do have the same old tricks.
I do think that these sort of shows work better in this smaller cabaret lounge than a big theatre. However not all seats in the illusionarium/Spiegel Tent have good views of the stage.
I'm sure the show will be refine with time, but it's not going to please everybody.

All I could see of the stage was a long row of heads. The 'girl in the box' was not visible; I only saw knives being shown in the air; where they then went was a mystery. I could only see what went on above head height. Some of the show was fine, other bits were sloow and dragged with too much talking. Not very prudent to pick the same chap from the audience to 'assist' either. His over exaggerated looks of incredulity were somewhat false.
The meal was the same as Cirque - not that that matters as it's not something one is going to go to time and time again. Just the starter was dried out - the cucumber slice was crisp. The mash was OK but the baked potato? underneath was not cooked and hard, the 'turf' & 2 bites of 'surf' tasted OK but whatever the other veg was I don't know. Dessert was tiny, but tasty enough. Having cooked this meal millions of times over one would have thought it had been perfected by now.
Overall the show was not bad for an evening's entertainment, but as you say, needs a bit of refining.
