I have noticed in Lloyds List Intelligence that Louis Cruises' CORAL (to be renamed LOUIS RHEA) would appear to have been sailing this summer between the Yemeni ports of Aden and Hodeidah.

Can anyone shed any further light on this?

I can't see that CORAL has sailed anywhere for 2 years and is still tied up in Eleusis Bay where she has been all summer.

She is going to Turkey to be scrapped. The expectation is that she will sail before year's end to her demise.

All about who is willing to pay more. The Turks have been very busy of late in the business and I would suspect with the lower cost of travel to get the ships to its final destination they can offer more money.

This year alone the Turks have done in:
Southward
Fairsky
Sea Venture

now Cunard Adventurer and it seems they will also be getting the remains of the Cunard Countess.

The Greek Cypriot registered vessels probably weren't permitted to go to Turkey.

Very Good Point !

Expect there is the chance the registry could be changed to somewhere like St Vincent for her final voyage although a recent change would be known to the Turkish authorities who could still ban the ship.

It looks as if the ' Coral ' could finish up in India at one of their ship breaking yards. !

Latest news reveals from Louis PLC that she has been sold to Argo Systems Fze of Dubai who ofter buy old ships and sell them on to a breaking yard.

Having been re-named ' Cora ' she is today passing the island of Crete at 11.4 knots as she heads to Port Said.

Her destination is given on the AIS maps as Dubai !

Yes, she left yesterday morning. I can't see it now, but a few days ago she was showing "Last Known Port: KANDLA". Dubai I guess is the middle man. Maybe she will go to Kandla, or maybe Alang.

The ' Cora ', as she is now named, had passed through the Suez Canal over the weekend and was today in the Gulf of Suez and cruising at 10.3 knots.

She is now shown as arriving at Dubai on the 17th January 2014.

Although the ' Cora ' arrived in the area of the indian ship breaking yards about the 21st January 2014 it was not the end of her final voyage.

On the night of the 30th January 2014 she moved off from where she had been at anchor and having reached a speed of about 13.3 knots headed to the beach at Alang where she arrived about 22.30 hrs ( UK Time ) on the night of the 30th January 2014. RIP

There had been a report on another cruising news website she had been beached already but from the AIS ship position signal for the ' Cora ' I had thought it was wrong.

Daily checking on her proved worth while to get the correct information.
