It's certainly not part of Reflection nor AIDAStella, so it has to be Breakaway right? 6 Decks of balconies above what looks to be the Waterfront. She's coming together rather quickly!

Yes, that is the Norwegian Breakaway rising in front of Celebrity Reflection. The portion you see of her is most likely a forward of amidships section that would eventually include the bridge (not visible on camera) but not big enough to include the bow that is forward of the superstructure.

Once the Celebrity Reflection is floated out the cameras will turn on Norwegian Breakaway and we'll get a better look at her.

Maybe someone can help me out. I can't remember when it was the last time Meyer Werft built a cruise ship in the main hall that was constructed with the bow facing the exit door? The five Solstice-class, the two Disney Dream-class, the Radiance-class, The Century-class, and the NCL Star-class ships were ALL built with the stern at the exit door.

Now pictures have been released showing that the Norwegian Breakaway is being built so that her bow will be facing the exit door? I know that the ships have historically exited the main builders hall stern first, and then transit the Ems River on their conveyance in a backwards position. Will Norwegian Breakaway then transit bow first?

I don't know anything about the building, but ISTR that the reason for the stern-first transit is that the props then "shovel" water under the hull during the transit, slightly increasing the effective depth of the water. If that's right, I can't imagine that the direction in which they ship is pointing for the Ems transit can be linked to the direction in which it's pointing when built inside the shed.

The ships go stern first because they can maneuver more precisely at such a slow speed using the bow thruster at the 'aft' to steer. 'Shoveling' water underneath the hull is actually 'pulling down' the hull increasing the draft.

Thanks, Ernst. So does this actually reduce the distance between the keel and the bottom of the river? I'd understood that the opposite effect was desired, because the ships are now so big and the river is barely deep enough for the transit. I'm glad to be put right if I've got it all wrong.

In general, yes. If the cross section the water has to pass through is decreased the velocity will increase while the static pressure decreases at the same time. I am sure that there are configurations where other effects take over and the opposite is observed but in general ships are 'sucked' to the bottom in shallow water - increasing the velocity of the water underneath the ship will enhance that effect.

New picture this morning form Meyer Werft shows
Breakway has been floated forward so now they can begin to set the first blocks of Getaway which sit in the area next to the dock.
The real question is what ship do all the pieces next to the Aidastella belong to. It looks like they have been put in front to back rather than side to side as they normally do. Is this part of Getaway and thats how they can do it so much faster or is the part of porject Sunshine? They don't have anymore ships for Aida and I don't see anything that would suggest they have any other type of ship on order so who is it?
Any ideas?
