I attended the Cruise Shipping Miami conference (formerly known as SeaTrade) today. Fincantieri unveiled their builders' model of the new ROYAL PRINCESS (which reminds me very much of the new MSC ships). Following are a few photos which will show you a few details of the ship:

I think this is actually a really nice design, possibly one of the best out there especially of the larger cruise ships.

Thank you for posting these pictures. I've been particularly interested in the design of this new ship because my assumption is that the new P&O ship - due in 2015 - will simply be the third to this design. That is, the P&O ship will bear the same relationship to this Royal Princess as Ventura and Azura do to Crown Princess, Emerald Princess & Ruby Princess.

Would you mind if I posted one or two of them in my blog? I've made a few posts on the topic of the new P&O ship, and your pictures would be informative.

Tom: yes the new P&O ship is based on the new ROYAL PRINCESS design. you can tell by comparing the renderings for both vessels (but then I guess you already did that
Rich: she really looks quite allright, certainly compared to all of Princess' newbuilds of the last 10-15 years!

Complete deck plans are now available.

Utterly uninspiring. Princess remains the Ramada Inn of the cruise industry. Even P&O manages to create more interesting interior designs based on the same hulls.

While her exteriors are nothing special, she sure does look 1000% better than the GRAND-class ships. It's also good to see that she will have a good amount of deck space for the size of the ship.

I'm a bit disappointed too, although I do see an improvement in the buffet area; much larger and finally a step up to near what Holland offers. Not a Ramada, perhaps more like the Westin/Hyatt feeling I always get from Princess!

Is there a link to the deckplans? I went to the Princess Cruises website and it just brought up the plans for the last Royal Princess.

N ot sure if this has been brought up in another thread, but I noticed Princess decided to split up the spa and the fitness center. Usually these two are located in the same part of the ship, but for ROYAL PRINCESS, the spa is located down on one the lower decks while the fitness center is placed up top....

Gorgeous model. As for the exterior, as posted looks like a warmed over MSC ship. A more graceful clipper bow and slightly longer forecastle would greatly improve her exterior design IMO.
