Today marked the beginning of the 2011 Vancouver cruise season with the arrival of the Crystal Symphony doing a Pacific Coastal cruise. The first ship of the 2011 Alaska season from Vancouver will actually be the Disney Wonder departing May 3rd. I wonder if she will get a huge welcome from the city and port?

Thanks for posting these pics. It's a pleasure to welcome the first ship of the season, and we celebrated the occasion with a mostly bright sunny day and 50,000 runners on a 10k run through the downtown area.

I'll be up there on May 6th for two nights before departing on NORWEGIAN PEARL for a week to Alaska.

It's been years since my last Alaska cruise so I'm really looking forward to it. Of course I would rather be sailing on Crystal or even the DISNEY WONDER but NCL will have to do. I actually really enjoyed the PEARL on a short 2-night cruise out of Miami, so I'm hoping I like the ship just as much on a longer cruise.

Out of all the cruise ports,this is my favorite. The city appears to be very clean and the weather the day we departed for Alaska was beautiful with a clear sky and breezes off the ocean.
Snow could still be seen in the mountains which added to the beauty.

Oh?? Do they still have the fireworks displays during the Summer? The Captain on our ship rushed back on the last night for the passengers to view the spectacle. I guess it's a competition among the fireworks display companies as to who can produce the best show.
