Happy New Year everyone!

Not since the 1950's has Southampton seen 6 x cruise ships alongside together. A nice sight, with a real plethora of different ships...

Nice pics and looks like a beautiful day. Three Vista's (not all that interesting), but three unique ships to liven things up!

So interesting to see all the Cunard connections, with two "actual" Queens, plus one "former " Queen in the Arcadia and the lovely former Vistafjord / Caronia. The two FOL ships look lovely as well.

Atop of that Cunard owns the Royal Viking brand - so very indirectly Black Watch also has some Cunard connection. I have not yet found a way how Balmoral could blend in but I am sure we can make something up .

Thanks for posting. The two Queens will be in FLL on the 16th when we are on the Allure. I miss the QM2 by one day.

Edit to add that I just read Dave's post. I will try to take some photos of the ships in port that day. We are not leaving the ship so what I take will be from the Allure.

Gordon

Andrew: excellent shots.

Are they in a gallery? I did a story about this in my blog yesterday, and I'd very much like to include a link to your pictures in it.

Hi Tom, they are part of my 1st gallery of the season, URL as follows:-

http://www.travelserver.net/travelpage/aspgallery/view_ad.asp?Ad_ID=3545

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, quite strange that within an hour of these photos being taken it was gloomy, raining and even got rather foggy in the afternoon!

Brgds,
Andrew

Hi Ernst,

well, the BALMORAL is the former CROWN ODYSSEY which was originally built for Royal Cruise Line. Royal Cruise Line has been a part of the Kloster group once, as well as Royal Viking Line. So there we already have a connection, even if Royal Viking Line was aquired by Cunard only later.
When Royal Cruise Line ceased operations, their vessel QUEEN ODYSSEY became the ROYAL VIKING QUEEN and later the SEABOURN LEGEND.

In a certain way, we have some very nice historic picture of vessels which all had to do in some way with Cunard.
Very interesting!

Well, your Balmoral story is maybe a bit far fetched but this is actually very appropriate in this context.
We can also add that Balmoral will re-enact Titanic's voyage and Titanic finally is (retroactively) the most famous of all Cunard vessels.

Only now I understand how all-embracing 'We are Cunard' is meant - it seems as if there is a bit of Cunard in all of us.
