Hi everyone.

Not sure whether this could be posted in the Classic section or not!

I am pleased to announce a new book on the Artemis, in fact, my first book. Written with fellow Artemis fan Sharon Poole, it is due for release in December, and is available for Pre-order on both Amazon and Waterstones websites.

We received fantastic assistance from many people, and we are extremely grateful for all contributions.

Brgds,
Andrew

OMG, is this thing already considered a classic? I remember seeing the first renderings. Time does move fast indeed....

Am not sure of the fact mentioned: she was the first contemporary ship with all outside cabins. The Swedish American Liner, Kungsholm of 1953, had all outside cabins. Perhaps the word "contemporary" dismisses any earlier ships with this feature. Gripsholm of 1957 also had this feature and I am sure there were others.

Not counting liners, the 1974-built "Copenhagen" / "Odessa" had all-outside passenger accommodations.

Royal Princess had all outside cabins with Tub Bath however Kungsholm of 1953 and Gripsholm of 1957 had all outside cabins but some cabins with shower only

And what is your point, Ocean Liners? There was nothing in the Artemis reference that spoke of baths and shower only.

We had suite A223 on Aloha Deck (as Royal Princess) now called the Orvieto Suite on Artemis and my memory fails me but I dont recall it having a tub? I may be wrong, it has been a few years (12 to be exact). I remember the suite itself pretty well but not the bathroom. Didnt spend a whole lot of time in there!

Ocean Liners.....another point worth mentioning is the fact that the standard cabins on Artemis, all outside with baths, are some of the most difficult to navigate once the beds are down and in place for the night. A trip to the bathroom at night was nearly impossible without disturbing the other person or falling over something not expected to be in your path. Kungsholm/Gripsholm never had such problems!

Please visit my previous post here, you may be able to see all diagram of her staterooms.
A223 was labeled "Outside Deluxe Room with Veranda" in the late of 1980's.

NAL,

In consideration of very contemporary, As I posted in earlier post, Artemis featured the most advanced cruise ship when she was built as the Royal Princess.
Artemis(ex Royal Princess) is not the first ship to feature all-outside cabins although All Cabins have(had) a tub bath and shower and also Refrigerator, Color Television, lack of tub bath in some cabins on the Kungsholm of 1953 and the Gripsholm of 1957.

Are you considering a German version? There might be a niche for that when she changes to Phoenix. Ideally it would have to be a slightly modified version with some pictures of her in the new livery but that should be possible.

Thanks to those of you who have posted nice comments, it was a joy to research, write and, hoepfully, a worthy tribute to the ship before she starts her new career with Phoenix.

Ernst, we had a lot of interest from Phoenix who allowed us to use an artists rendering of the ship in Phoenix livery. I will certainly mention it to the Publishers as no doubt, could be a rather nice touch for Artania's passengers and crew alike.

Brgds,
Andrew

I'm not sure her all-outside cabins was as innovative as the high number of balconies. She had multiple decks of balcony cabins years before this became an industry norm. Consider other ships build around the same time: Fairsky, Song of America, Homeric, and Jubilee. None had more than a handful of balcony cabins. By 1990 almost every newbuild had rows and rows of them. RP started this trend.
