Well, these are 'only' names albeit traditional ones. Many lines re-use names but not necessarily for ships with the same function or prestige. The present Oriana is not at all a replacement for the previous Oriana which was built for an entirely different purpose. Canberra was of course a very prominent ship and I understand why P&O might hesistate to use that name again (also because it might collide with the image they want to create now?). Nevertheless, at least some aspects like the funnel of Oriana (and Aurora) were actually inspired by Canberra. In a way these two were the immediate replacement for Canberra which was then serving as cruise ship and had to be retired.

As posted, Oriana (2) was basically the successor of Canberra. Her exterior (simulated split funnel, angled supports between the boats etc.) were inspired by Canberra. Aurora's more modified exterior was also inspired by Canberra.
