Here is the first draft of my Epic review. Please note that it is VERY long and written for people that may not know much about NCL or Epic.

There are almost certainly errors so private message me please.

The review will be added to Cruise Talk later with images. Enjoy!

Malcolm, Nice review. By the way, the Oasis has a barber shop too. Barber shops were very common on the liners. Actually, when I interviewed John Maxtone-Graham in 2008, I asked him what he would like to see on the new ships being built and one of the things he suggested was a barber shop for men, since the women had the vast spa facilities. John Maxtone-Graham was also part of the team to decide on the name of the Oasis of the Seas. Maybe RCI was was listening??

Freedom Class as well. In fact FREEDOM OF THE SEAS may have been the first after a very long absence.

Thanks Barry/Ernie, I must of overlooked the fact that these ships had 'Barbers Shops'?

Anyone got an image of one to remind me?

It's right in the Royal Promenade, and Royal Caribbean made a fairly big deal about it when FREEDOM OF THE SEAS was introduced. It was one of those "firsts" for the modern day cruise industry.

Great review!

Question: after you showered, how much steam blasted the cabin once you opened the stall door? My better half and I are both terribly allergic to mold and mildew, and this could be a deal breaker.

Very cool nighttime pic of the pool area. Looks like so much fun!

I also liked your Spice H20 nighttime pic with the performer. I hear one of the parties is called "Fabba", after Abba. I absolutely LOVE Abba so I know this will be a party that I will enjoy.

I like the stairs and corridor carpet as well. There is color besides red!

I did not notice much steam, the water is hot but not very hot. AS for mould the the ship was new.

Nice pics Malcolm. The pool deck looks very cool at night.

I just noticed that your cabin was void of any art. I see the fasteners but no art. Did you like it so much in ended up in your suitcase? LOL.

Well spotted! The art was flowers printed onto perspex sheets. It was stacked up in the corner of my cabin!

I'll have it on e-bay, next week!

Apparently they get little to no business. That's why on the Oasis they originally gave it a location in the RP but then in later deck plans removed it in favor of integrating it's offerings into the spa. Eventually that space is what became the Cupcake Cupboard. With the recent announcement of the cupcakes coming to Freedom and Liberty I wouldn't be surprised if they were removed on those as well.

I had my hair cut on an NCL cruise once. The cruise was the last bit of a month away, and I'd last had my hair cut about a week before we left - so I was looking pretty straggly by then. And in Caribbean temperatures, that was pretty uncomfortable.

And it was both overpriced and incompetent. I won't be doing that again in a hurry.

The young lady in the Barber shop on board the Epic, the one in your photo Malcolm, is the girl who cut my hair while I was on the Epic this past weekend. She's from Australia, and she did a really nice job. I only got a cut, not the whole wash & cut and product pitch...and it only cost me $17bucks...not too bad.
