Great images. It's interesting that the open decks are'nt full of passengers. Even the bow and forward observations decks have plenty of viewing space. I guess an-all day transit is'nt that interesting after a while.

It may have been a very warm day with high humidity which caused many people to flee to the comfort of A/C. That was my experience both times. The Crow's Nest offers spectacular views in cool comfort.

According to Accuweather the temperature at the time the webcam grab above was taken was approximately 93 degrees. I have seen cruise ship come through with forward observation decks quite full, other times quite empty. Even at this point in the transit (a full 6 1/2 hours after it started) many folks often do retreat inside for the comforts of a/c against the heat and or humidity.

Remember also that they have already been through the triple locks at Gatun and double locks of Pedro Miguel, as well as the Gaillard Cut (a big highlight) so afternoon tea or a late lunch from inside sounds better?

I've been through twice, eastbound and westbound, and the heat gets harder and harder to withstand throughout the day. Both times we were rewarded by hot torrential rains late in the day. After 8 hours, the fascination of one more lock fades a bit! But I'd happily do this cruise again.
