...this afternoon. I believe this is her first ever transit through the canal and that she is on her World Cruise.

Thanks for the captures. Is that soot around the base of the funnel pipes?

On all her previous pics (and even on Seabourn's website) the small platforms and 'accordian' style stack below the exposed funnel pipes are painted white. I would hope that area is just painted black and that isn't soot.

Well when she came to Barbados for the first time this season and ever, they were white, by the time and the second call, they were black, so I assumed they were painted black to blend in with the rest of the fleet and to hide the soot as well.

By the time she came over from Europe, those funnel segments were already painted black. I took this photo on Nov. 11, 2009:

There are also a number of photos of her at ShipSpotting which show those painted black while she was cruising the Med.

Certainly on the inside--I was very impressed with the design and minimalist decor on the ODYSSEY. Very classic and classy, not depending upon lots of ornamentation or kitsch. I would love to see such design on a larger ship, but it could be lost on the multitudes who are expecting "more bang for their buck" on a cruise ship.
