I was on the Rihanna sailing, and will be on again Dec 1. I talked with a couple of the cruise staff about this.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but

There will be NO INTERNET CAFE. Setting up a password for your laptop will be done in your cabin.

Each cabin has a wirless keyboard that will be used to access the internet.

EVERY cabin will have internet access....therefore NO need for an internet cafe.

The small make-shift, Internet Cafes they have set up now, are temporary, as the system is not fully functioning yet.

I still find it odd there is a not an internet cafe. I don't bring my laptop on any vacation, and I really don't want to surf the web from my cabin on the TV. Call me old fashioned, but I like to go to the internet cafe and surf the internet on a "real" computer.

If OASIS is anything like CELEBRITY SOLSTICE, then every cabin TV is powered by a Mac Mini and comes with a full keyboard (which can also be used as a remote for the TV). Even with the most amazing in-cabin multi-media system in the industry, SOLSTICE still had a sizable Internet Cafe.

I may well be in the minority here, but I wouldn't miss it.

Yes I could hook one of my laptops up to the wifi, but when you start combining the cost with the speed, I will go without.

This sounds fine to me.

If you need Internet access you have the option of either:
1. The in-cabin entertainment system, or
2. Your own laptop/mobile device.

With a computer in every cabin there is no need for public ones.

My only question is what one does if one needs to print something.

on our preview cruise, the line on the last night in the temporary internet cafe was at least 15 deep of people printing out their boarding passes for the next day

I think the boarding passes in question are airline boarding passes. Online check-in generally only begins working 24 hours before departure.

On some airlines this is how you get seat assignments so there is a definite advantage to checking in online as soon as possible. By the time you get to the airport kiosk or check-in desk on day of departure only the worst seats are left.

However, many airlines will let you check in online but print your boarding pass at the airport kiosk.

I suppose it's airline specific as some can print weeks ahead of time, but then those don't have seat assignments. When everything is running properly it can be done from the cabin and printed [if need be] centrally I expect. As long as someone else doesn't pick up your boarding pass in error while you spend the half hour walking to wherever the printer is located

most US carriers only allow check in for flights 24 hours prior to your flight. As the southern Florida airports on a dis-embarkation day are a mess, its easier to have everything in hand prior to arriving at the airport.
