Who is going to be there for her maiden arrival?

Still looking forward to seeing her next to, and around, other cruise ships. This Saturday's 6 ships unfortunately will be spread out pretty thin but it appears OASIS and Crown Princess will be docking closest (nose to stern?) at berths 18 and 19 respectively. Costa Atlantica across that midport section at Berth 21. I am sure it will show well on their webcams as they pull in Saturday morning.

Sunday, if Carnival Freedom parks in her usual spot, will bow to stern with OASIS.

I look forward to everyones pictures of her arrival Friday.

Unfortunately due to her delay I am now left in the limbo since I have to work Friday, Wednesday was the perfect day, no work or school but I'll see what I can do.

Sunrise for Friday is 6:38am. I wonder what time she will pass the breakwater at the entrance? A sunrise arrival similar to QM2?

OASIS is scheduled to be alongside at 9:00 am--ZUIDERDAM, STATENDAM, BAHAMAS CELEBRATION and SEABOURN ODYSSEY are all coming in before her, so it will likely be quite some time after sun-up.

Is the Seabourn Odyssey doing some sort of TA functions? I see her maiden arrival was today?

I am sure the shorline and condo balconies lining the entrance will be packed. Guessing OASIS will pass there about 8am?

Both MSC POESIA and SEABOURN ODYSSEY made their US debuts today at Port Everglades. I'll be on the ODYSSEY tomorrow for a tour & luncheon, and she is scheduled for a fund-raiser charity event cruise to nowhere, as well.

2 DAYS! Any word on live feeds or TV coverage that can be tapped into of her arrival. You would think Royal Caribbean would have bought airtime!Maybe they'll show her on GMA or The Today Show. Cant wait. This is going to be cool.

Just waiting for some happy bunny to post the fact that Oasis is arriving on Friday 13th!!!!

oh well .... it has to be me then (tongue much in cheek). At least it will make for a different curse from the champagne bottle not breaking!!!

I have heard a rumour (and that is all it is) that OotS may have sustained damge to her forward hull and lifeboats during the rough weather she was experiencing.

Anyone heard anyhting ?

Of course if so will be revealed to our US partners tomorrow.

I'm curious to know if they decided to stop once they hit calm waters to allow a lifeboat to circle and inspect everything.

My guess is this is a false rumor. There are some that seem to great pleasure in any failings of OASIS. The Captain of OASIS has been providing daily video updates each day of the crossing on www.oasisoftheseas.com There has been no mention of any damage, and in fact just the opposite has been mentioned ... that OASIS has been handling remarkable well in the rough seas. Considering that exterior damage is not something that can be hidden, I think the Captain would have mentioned it to avoid any "surprises".

Considering the draft and width of OASIS, plus the advanced hull design, I'm guessing she rides extremely well even in rough water. If there was any damage to a lifeboat, I would guess it has to do with how it's secured to the ship. This is a prototype design and the only true test is in real-time day to day operations.

The story is minor damage to 2 of the lifeboats. It came from the USA Today Cruiselog Twitter as below:-

So how are they replacing the 2 boats? Flying replacements down from the shipyard?

I don't think any lifeboats need replacing. Apparently just minor damage which can be repaired in Ft. Lauderdale.

Well I'll be up at 6am waiting for her to show up on the webcams. Apparently Good Morning America is supposed to be broadcasting Live tomorrow for her arrival.

According to Bill Wright she performed remarkably well with over 40 foot waves. Richard Fain also mentioned she reached a speed of 24 knots, not under these conditions of course.

Thank You in advance for all the pictures, video clips, and anything else posted showing the maiden arrival of the Oasis of the Seas, and the multitude of threads that will no doubt sprout up this weekend. I work 4-16hr shifts this weekend and will miss most of it.

And what would that difference between a 'liner' and a 'cruise ship' be? QM2 is certainly a fine ship with impressive capabilities but this does not mean that Oasis of the Seas is not seaworthy. Most 'liners' certainly had much worse sea-keeping abilities than Oasis of the Seas.

This is a sever storm - ships can be damaged in a storm - this is not unusual. And BTW also QM2 has been damaged in a storm.

Yes, OOTS is in good company; QM2 had storm damage on her Maiden Transat as well, with some of the glass windshields being shattered up on deck 12. Metal grills around the funnel and other bits disappeared too.
