Its a water coaster. They have them at some water parks. Basically you sit in a intertube as high pressure water pushes you along, un and down, not just sliding down like you do on a regular slide.

What I dont like the most, is the kid only area that reminds me of adults only area. What would kids need their own area like that for? They already have tons of places for themselves.

I have been on many cruises and I personally feel Disney is worth it the entertainment is top notch (albeit all Disney which can get a bit much) but the service, attention to detail, and the little extras that are thrown in make for a great cruise experience. I have sailed them twice and I have to say IMO its a quality product.

I do beileve after being a travel agent for 10 years and sailing many lines you DO most of the time get what you pay for. While YOU may feel $2550 pp is a lot to pay for a family vacation to some aint that much! I worked in luxury travel sales during my last 3 years as a travel agent and you had to see what their budgets were. It is all relative.....I agree that $2550 pp is on the higher end but if I knew I was going to get a quality product I would save and maybe skip a trip and go for it.

Disney ship's are designed with a whole deck area for kids that is their area. Instead of having a children's club, like other mass market lines, they have almost a full deck designed for kids. This does not mean you have to have your kids go there. Beleive me it is set up very nicely and as I have stated before I rarely see kids behaving crazy (like riding elevators for fun like I do on other lines) because they are so well entertained.

Why don't you give them a try....a 3 or 4 night cruise. Save up and try it you may like it!

I think with DCL what you are paying for is the Disney name itself. I know for a fact that I could go on a Carnival, Royal Caribbean or even NCL cruise and get the same if not more quality etc for less! I just can't see myself dishing out $13,000+ for a vacation when I can get the same for around $7,000. I like Disney and I have haerd many great things about them but it isn't worth going broke over.......

I have to side with Cam J on this one. I can scrimp and save for years and years and years, and take a single 'high end' vacation, or for the same amout of money take 2 or 3 vacations. It's in the matter of your priorities. I would rather get the most out of my money and still be able to get the best value and quality it can buy, and the cruise lines are mostly stepping up to the plate to deliver affordable vacations at a decent discount price. Tipping aside, I rarely hit the bars or casinos, and my onboard expenses are heavily budgeted, yet I still manage have a very good time. Hey, I just want to be on a cruise ship out in the ocean.

I can't speak for DCL until next week, but based on my experience at Disney Resorts I can say without question it's more than just a name. There is a certain flair and style in the was Disney does things. Their themed resorts at WDW are just magical, and the service I have received has always been top notch. The difference is so pronounced that I no longer want to travel to WDW unless I stay at an onsite Disney Resort. We are staying at the Polynesian this Christmas. I love that resort and started staying there as a small child. It's great that it's right on the monorail, I can watch the firework from the beach, and I can get into the parks after hours. It's also cool I can charge anything I purchase in WDW right to my room key (just like on a cruise ship), and any packages I purchase anywhere in the entire WDW complex can be delivered to my resort. There are a lot of little extras when staying at a Disney resort, and when I add these up I find it's well worth the extra cost. It really enhances my entire experience.

As for DCL, I'm not so sure. Things are a little different in the cruising world, and there are a lot of amazing ships out there. This being said, I think the standard on DCL is going to be higher compared to Carnival, RCI, Princess, and NCL. The service, the private island where the ship actually docks, the rotational dining, the well enforced adults only areas, the Disney style evening shows, the larger cabins with divided baths, the only fireworks show at sea, the deck parties, the custom built cruise terminal, the DCL transfer busses, free soft drinks, free Mickey ice cream bars, etc. etc. I do think there will be a "Disney Difference", but I doubt it will be enough to make me want to cruise Disney exclusively. I love Disney, but I also love a variety of ships too much to be exclusive to one line, no matter how good they are.

Anyway, I'm very excited to sail on my first Disney Cruise, and being that I have an eye for detail, I'll be interested to see what the Disney Differences really are, and if they have a high enough value proposition to justify the added cost.

But of course this is all like art or food....its subjective. Of course one can have the same good time or better on something that is cheaper no doubt about that.

For those of us who have never sailed Disney or experienced their brand 1st hand I find it difficult to make assumptions just on price alone. Try it once you my find its worth it or not. You have to experience it to make that decision. As mec1 pointed it was not the cruise line of choice.
