Say what you will about the Carnival newbuilds - their decor is VERY subjective - but looking at the pictures, they have used some VERY expensive furnishings and fixtures on the Dream.

I have always said Carnival's decor is not cheap. Most of the fabrics, carpets, fixtures, and furniture they use are either built specifically for the ship, or special ordered. These are not inexpensive, generic catalog items. Of course they also use a ton of marble which adds up, and all the special decorative ornaments which Farcus likes to use in abundance. In the past Carnival was also one of the few cruise lines to cover all their decks with teak. Again, not inexpensive.

Unfortunately, sometimes when it's all put together, it comes across looking cheap. Perhaps cheap to the eye, but not to the wallet.

I still wish more was done with the Ocean Plaza. That area had such potential but it really comes across as looking rather cheap and tacky. Just not very inviting to sit and have a coffee. I'm still hoping in person it will look and feel totally different compared to how it looks in the pictures.

It doesn't matter how much money you spend on something. You can spend a ton of money on something and it will still look ugly and cheap.

Carlos, thanks for those pictures, you just saved me a major headache, we are booked in 8435, an aft wrap, the problem is your pictures clearly show that it is not a wrap, so I will be canceling that cabin.

Great pics Carlos. DREAM is an attractive ship, no doubt about it. I still like the looks of the Spirit Class best, but DREAM would come in second as far as Carnival is concerned.

I like the looks of the stern but the rest of the ship looks like the Conquest/Splendor design which I do not like. I agree that the Spirit class still has the best look and after seeing the layout of this ship, Spirit class still rules in my book.

The exterior is attractive, particularly for a Carnival ship.

Does the Dream only have two pools for a 130,000 ton ship? The aft pool is small too. That's got to be a hot mess on sunny days at sea.

Many posters knock the Norwegian Epic for its pool areas but at least it has 4 (5 if you count the indoor therapy pool in the spa).

Remind me again why they need 5 - 6 foot glass railings along the Promenade... I understand along the cantilevered whirlpools, but along the entire deck????

Yes, only two relatively small pools. This was a concern I shared when I first saw the deck plans. I've always felt the Destiny/Conquest Class are short on pools, but DREAM takes it to a new level.

Carnival passengers have a tendency to, well .... "fall" overboard.

It's a shame they didn't do more with the promenade. At least they added a forward set of doors, something that is lacking on the previous Destiny/Conquest Class ships. Unfortunately they didn't add anything else, and it looks strange that the entire forward section of the promenade has nothing but a white steel wall behind it.
