Construction work on Celebrity Eclipse is ahead of schedule, so there will now be time to squeeze in a three-day revenue cruise from Southampton before the official maiden voyage next April.

Details of the announcement here.

Those on the 'real maiden' were given to option to move to the pre-maiden a couple of weeks back. I think the cut off date for taking it up was 1st Sept [without checking]. All these names get a bit silly Maybe we'll have a pre-pre-maiden too. I am sure somewhere more exciting than Le Havre could have been picked.

I had brought this up a while back but I just don't get the whole business about being on a Maiden Voyage these days unless the ship is really something special like the QM2. There was a mess with Ventura's multiple maiden pre-maiden voyages. I can't imagine what all the fuss is abt sailing on the Maiden Voyage on #3 of 5 in a production.

I was on 2n pre-inaugural cruise on Celebrity Solstice class EQUINOX in late July before her 'maiden' It was a freebie and I took some photos of the ship, which will be the same as Eclipse. If you want to see them I can supply link to my photos.
A lovely ship. There was a 1n cruise before mine, and then my 2n one and then the naming ceremony cruise, so the maiden cruise is not the first cruise anymore!

Speaking of the Eclipse...nice view of the forward part of the ship being built. Wonder what made them change the webcam angle?

Its amazing how fast they build them. It seems like Equinox was just floated out!

According to the celebrity website, inside and outside cabins are already sold out, only balconies and suites are bookable.

A lot of money for a non-inspiring route

For comparison here are two grabs from June 8th (3 months ago today) and June 15th. This was right after Equinox was floated out and the construction in progress on Eclipse was floated back from the building dock extension.

100 photos of Equinox here:

I took these on a 2n cruise in late July. Eclipse is due to sail from Southampton UK next year, and will be near enough the same inside and out being on Solstice sister, all rather exciting .

Lots of modules added and some painting going on in the last three weeks. Looks like she is about done structurally (minus the funnels of course). There's a new bow section in the staging area. Is this for #4 of the class?
