New images from today, including the bridge's current state. Sea trial I should take place May 11 if this date has not changed.

Thanks for the photos. Better or worse, this is a really interesting ship that does contain some interesting new developments that if successful will be incorporated in lots of newbuilds in the years to come.

Unfortunately, Central Park seems to be as we suspected and not very wide. The area around the skylights for the Promenade below look like a potential bottleneck, nowhere near as wide as the original artist impressions suggested.

The bridge looks like it is pretty far along...Seems like there is still tons of work to be done before the first sea trial. Do the lifeboats need to be installed by the first sea trial??

Lifeboats or rafts sufficient for the number of people on board need to be operational before sea trails.

I really haven't seen much about the show lounge. Of course having been a Cruise Director, the show lounge is of great interest to me. Was there any clue regarding the show lounge in the model at SeaTrade?

I'm pretty sure that the Theatre and Dining room have not been revealed yet - officially.

My God!....that thing is beyond ugly,no apologies & I do mean to offend here...why didn't RCI just buy a supertanker hull and build the rest on top of it?
BIG
FAT
WIDE
TALL.....
Wonder what its seakeeping qualities will be like
imagine a moderate roll in a moderate swell, now imagine being on the highest balcony deck when that happens....no thankyou RCI you can have it
on a silver platter and all that goes with it...

Let's give them a chance to finish the ship before judgement is passed. Some renderings never show what the finished product looks like. I'm sure changes go on during construction all the time.

These are my thoughts on the subject....I think it's just too much..granted it's individual but the design
look, the overstacked balcony decks just make me
wonder where it'll end...

Just my opinion, something we're all entitled too.

As far as stability goes, these large ships ride smoothly IMHO. I wonder however if this ship has 2 sets of stabliizers?? Maybe Akerbuilder can chime in-or anyone else?

Richard Fain's launched a new Oasis blog:

Nice photo of the model, and promises of more updates every week. Hopefully it will be as well done as the Eurodam blog was.

Although I'm very interested in OASIS, and I think the design is very interesting, I have also wondered if it's just too much. I mean will it be overwhelming for a 7-day cruise? I don't know. Perhaps the ship is so big and overwhelming you will never find your niche in 7-days? Perhaps that won't be the case at all?

Either way I can't wait to sail on the ship and find out for myself. I had some of the same concerns about the Voyager Class when it first came out, and the design totally blew me away. It's now one of my favorite classes of ships. Royal Caribbean just designs things so well it's hard not to appreciate the attention to detail and the innovation. I also think OASIS is looking pretty darn good for the size of the ship. It could be so much worse as we have seen from some of the competitors.

I really hope there ends up being only two of the Oasis design, just like I'm glad there is only one QM2. It makes the ships more appealing to me, with more notoriety. Something is not really special when there are dozens of them ... like the Vista Class for instance. For the next design, I would like to see Royal Caribbean design something slightly larger than the current Freedom Class, but still much smaller than the Oasis Class.

According to the model there is only one set of stabilizers.

The bridge actually looks much more narrow and compact compared to the Voyager/Freedom Class. On those ships there is a lot of open space on the bridge and I know one Captain even used a scooter to get from one end to the other.

The layout appears to be different as well. I don't see that center control console with the fixed Star Trek like seats.

Does anyone know if Royal Caribbean has changed their mind about the baby blue hull? The model and some of the latest exterior renderings I have seen on www.oasisoftheseas.com seem to have the traditional all white hull. I'm hoping this is the case.

It's still baby blue. If you look closely at the model picture on the blog it is blue.

What can I say. Perhaps wishful thinking on my part. I don't like the baby blue hull. Looks like primer to me.

I posted a question about the hull color to the CEO's blog on OASIS. It will be interesting if he decides to answer.

Does anyone think there's going to be enough deck space for 6,000 passengers? If the ship were visiting a port every day it wouldn't matter but personally i dread having to hunt for a deck chair

It's interesting to see one set of the funnel pipes extracted, and the other set retracted. There is a video on youtube right now that shows smoke coming out of the funnel. She is coming alive!

Alot of glass has been installed already, I am surprised. This build is moving faster than I thought. Funnel looks nice with the pipes extended. Can't wait to see the starboard pipes out as well.

She is coming along nicely. I like the retractable exhaust pipes on the funnels but the mast looks a bit stubby. Other than that she is very impressive and RCI has kepy their elegant trademark curves but on a massive scale.

Speaking of the Oasis mast it is a departure from previous mast designs of RCI's. I noticed that RCI's masts have remained fairly the similiar through out the years since the line's inception with the exception of the Song Of America (she had a mast that seemed to be taller) and the Viking Serenade (but she was built for another line). Otherwise the masts especially starting with the Sovereign in 1988 have always appeared to be somewhat similiar on each ship and class.

I am guessing the different mas design on Oasis is due to height requirements. It is stubby but I think it adds to her uniqueness. I think thet are nicer then NCL's masts on their new ships.

Actually I take what I said back!!! The Radiance class actually had the masts that where a design departure for RCI! I think I like Oasis and the other classes of ships masts better.
