Hebridean International Cruises has sold HEBRIDEAN SPIRIT, but no details are yet known who the new owners are. They will keep HEBRIDEAN PRINCESS.

HS is the former RENAISSANCE SIX.

Her sisters are currently:

One - DABAWI (Dubai Royal Yacht)
Two - EASYCRUISE ONE (recently sold to Dubai interests)
Three - GALAPAGOS EXPLORER II
Four - CLELIA II
Five - SPIRIT OF OCEANUS
Seven - CORINTHIAN II
Eight - ISLAND SKY

HEBRIDEAN SPIRIT is such a beautifully fitted out vessel, I hope she will find gainful employment for the public and not end up as another private yacht.

A shame but I hope she finds a new home serving a similar market and that whoever gets her keeps her to the standard, of all of her sisters she seems to be by far the best maintained, she was in Durban a few days ago and I had a good look at her and also last year in Cape Town, the hull literally gleams - would not be surprised if they gave her a polish once a week.

Corinthian II was in a couple of weeks ago and in comparison looked worn. Mind Black Watch was in today and she is in desperate need of a good painting (preferably by someone who can paint straight lines - her boot topping is all over the place - very amateur).

Hebridean Island Cruises had two very nice ships, but the fares were pretty steep - credit crunched?

I don't think it has anything to do with the credit crunch. This ship has been for sale for a long time ... years probably.

She is beautiful ship but as far as I know she has never made any money.

When she was operated by her present owners her passenger number was just 80 after they had her re-fitted.

The rumour is that she has been sold to a middle east owner to be operated as a casino/brothel ship off the Persian Gulf in lieu of the new strict code of conduct for expatriates coming in effect this year in and around Dubai City.

The sale was announced to the passengers and crew sailing from Durban to the Mauritius. It is actually a pity to loose such a happy ship with an equal spontenous and happy crew.

Cruise West has a New Ship sailing for them called Galapagos Explorer II and it says shes a sister ship to their Spirit of Oceanus which is an ex Renaissance ship, does anyone know if this could be the Herbidean Spirit or what ship would it be?

See my first post on this thread above, which lists the eight Renaissance ships and their present deployments. Although sisters, the first four have a different funnel arrangement to the last four.

GALAPAGOS EXPLORER II has been sailing for Ecuadorian operator, Canodrus, since 1998. I don't know whether she has been chartered by Cruise West, or entered into some sort of joint venture.

I just read on Ship parade that Cruise West's New ship is the former Easy Cruise One! Is this possible?

I just checked Cruise West's website and they also have the Corinthian II listed on their fleet list..interesting..but only makes sense cause she is exactly the same as Spirit of Oceanus.

Cruise West is now marketing cruises on other ships it is chartering as well as its' own ships, as a way of expanding its reach to Europe (river cruises), the Galapagos and Antarctica.

GALAPAGOS EXPLORER II and CORINTHIAN II have both operated as such for some time, they have just never been marketed by Cruise West before.

GALAPAGOS EXPLORER II is the former RENAISSANCE THREE.

CORINTHIAN II is the former REGINA RENAISSANCE, RENAISSANCE SEVEN, RENAI I, SUN and ISLAND SUN (she did not ever operate as RENAI I or SUN).

Doug, Cruise West is not actually marketing these ships, they are chartering them for full-ship Cruise West departues, for example a couple in the Galapagos and a single cruise in Antartica. They are also expanding to cruises in the Danube in order to take full advantage of their customer database - how many passengers want to return to Alaska every year? By the way, the SPIRIT OF OCEANUS will be on a new itinerary (not yet announced) in 2010 and will not return to Alaska.

easyCruise One had been for sale for some time and was not in the 2009 sailing schedules.

There was talk of easyCruise having a second larger ship to match easyCruise life.

One cruise ship that was at Piraeus and not been mentioned recently is the Van Gogh from the Dutch Cruise Club.

It is possible she has been sold and having a refit some where in Greece.

The name of the former RENAISSANCE ONE is DUBAWI and not DABAWI

See here : www.platinum.gov.ae

And you can seen also on this website the conversion projet "DBII" for the former EASYCRUISE ONE (renammed for the moment CRUISE ONE)

For information, these two vessels are docked together in Dubaï (http://www.shipspotting.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=893042)

adriana & norway lover,

the name "Dabawi" was correct at the time of writing. The ship has since been renamed "Dubawi", however.

Best,
