Costa Cruises has invested approximately €22m in planned maintenance work on five of its ships. The scheduled dry docking work was carried out in three months, between October and end January, on Costa Serena, Costa Europa, Costa Atlantica (in Palermo), Costa Romantica (in Genoa) and Costa Fortuna (in Trieste).Flagship 114,500gt Costa Serena is the last ship to receive a makeover and is due to leave Fincantieri’s Palermo yard next week.

How much notice was he given? £40 is not much for what appears very short notice from your first post Malcolm? It won't cover any other expenses laready paid for and some people may already have left home too.
