A friend of a friend has had his cruise cancelled but does not seem to know why. Any ideas? Is the ship operating as normal?

Costa invests €22m in upgrading five ships

Costa Cruises has invested approximately €22m in planned maintenance work on five of its ships. The scheduled dry docking work was carried out in three months, between October and end January, on Costa Serena, Costa Europa, Costa Atlantica (in Palermo), Costa Romantica (in Genoa) and Costa Fortuna (in Trieste).
Flagship 114,500gt Costa Serena is the last ship to receive a makeover and is due to leave Fincantieri’s Palermo yard next week.

It was an 11th Feb cruise. The guy was given no explanation by Costa and given £40 pp compensation.

I suppose the refit has overran?

The last cam image is on 9th Feb In Palermo. Wonder if she is still there then?

How much notice was he given? £40 is not much for what appears very short notice from your first post Malcolm? It won't cover any other expenses laready paid for and some people may already have left home too.

She docked this morning at 09.00 in Savona where she is still berthed right now. Look here Webcam Webcam Savona Palacrociere
I did hear that she was scheduled to leave on the 11th and left DD late due to some "engine trouble".....
