This will provide competition for the likes of Thomson who use Malaga as a embarkation port on a regularly basis for cruises of the Canaries etc.

Help my Euro-geographically-challenged self, but it appears Malaga is a bit difficult to fly into to catch the ship. Why not Barcelona or even Gibraltar. Big ship to fill from a local market?

The airport of Malaga is the gateway for the whole Costa del Sol - and there is a lot of tourism there. It is much more difficult to get to Gibraltar.

Málaga is not remotely difficult to get to for Europeans. In particular, low-fare airlines like Air Berlin, EasyJet and Ryanair have enormous operations at Málaga Airport and you can fly there nonstop from many, many European cities in particular from Northern Europe. The airport also sees a tremendous amount of charter traffic.

I am sure Americans are not the target market for these cruises but there is nonstop service from JFK to Málaga on Delta as well and passengers from the US can also connect to Málaga over major European hubs like Frankfurt and London.

I just returned home from this ship last Sunday and had a great time. Very nice ship and should do well in her new home.

How did you like sailing out of San Juan? I have not had the best experiences on my cruises out of that port.
