My wife and I are avid cruisers. Generally we like Celebrity but have tried Holland America, Princess and RC. I have put off trying a Carnoval ship for years because of the reputation of a party ship and all I thought I would experience is "Cruisin to Booze" passengers. Also, there was a distatse in my mouth because it seemed Carnival kept you on the ship more with less island stops - hoping to keep you buying their liquid refreshments and gambling (IMO).

Anyway it seems their repuation has improved remarkably. My wife has chose a cruise for us and 4 friends leaving Port Canaveral on Fen 21st with the Glory headed to the Western Caribbean.

Anyone cruised on this ship? Love to hear your experiences.

I Dont know WHY people hate Carnival so much I have been on 5 Carnival cruises and all of them have been wonderful. The food is great, the entertainment is awesome and the ships are gorgeous. So a cruise is what you make it. If you go expecting to have a bad time you will have a bad time. Im not saying Carnival is perfect in everyway im just saying its not just for the young crowd or the drinkers and the party animals. Its for families and singles and seinors and others. So all i'm saying is give Carnival some credit.

Carnival is trying very hard to remove that old stigma of the party line. Doubt that it will ever happen but they are not the party till you puke line that they once were. I feel that overall they do a pretty good job with their on board product. It's their ships that I have a problem with.

I cruising on the Glory just after she entered service. She is a member of the Conquest class. IMHO they are some of the worst designed ships sailing the world today. Very crowded feeling as they have a horrible traffic flow. Pool areas are also cramped. Not a fan of Joe Farcus who designs the intertiors. IMHO he has designed so many of the Carnival/Costa brand ships that he is now repeating himself.

I suggest that you try Carnival for yourself. That is really the only way that you will know if they are for you. Happy cruising.

We are going to try her for ourselves. As mentioned you have to be careful about having any pre-conceived ideas. We are just going to have a relaxing time. Hopefully it is a good week (Feb 21-28) to not have too many kids aboard. Actually, on my own site I wrote an article about this as being our first Carnival Cruise: Our Snobbery Ends for Carnival. Let me know your thoughts or reply to the article on our site. After the cruise I will let you know our experiences here.

It seems to be the same as Costa Cruises. Many dont like Costa, and I really dont understand it.
OK, I have only tried Costa once, but be sure not for the last time.
It was a wonderful 7 night cruise in Norwegian Fjords Summer 08, and I will never forget it, it was great, and the ship was great too (Costa Mediterranea.)
