Did not know you were there too .

No interior photos ? ? ? ?

Interior photos can be found on my website.

Did you notice the damage on the bow at portside ? ?

This happened on Saturday 13 December when trying to get into the port of Dover. She collided with an assisting tug.

Hi Willem,

I've got plenty of interior photo's but I'm still working on them.

I saw the dammage but I did not realise it was that recent.

more than the little-damage, Balmoral seems to have quite a bit of rust streaming down her sides...needs some maintainence.

The damage seems to be little, but was serious enough for an inspection if the ship was still seaworthy before she left Dover on Sunday 14th.

Under the circumstances any ship would have required an inspection I imagine. Upon her arrival at Dover on Sat the weather was too rough for her to dock so she stood off for a few hours before an attempt was made resulting in contact with the tug. She immediately returned to sea. She wasn't able to finally berth until 1am on Sunday.
Departure was therefore over 24hrs late and the joining pax refunded a day of their cruise.

All pax were informed on Saturday that the ship would not arrive nor depart on that day.
There was a list of hotels available, but people had to arrange hotel and transport by themselves, without any help nor payments by Fred Olsen.
They had to claim with their insurancecompany.
For the one day missing they received an on-board credit of GBP 85,--

I have been on board longer than the official visit. My first impression was O.K. but later I found the ship is missing something. Difficult to explain what, but it has a different feeling than Black Watch (which I visited twice in the past).
My British friends who were onboard said that the ship is missing a 'soul'.

Hi!

I saw that the BLACK WATCH was also in Amsterdam last Friday. Some kind of special event going on? Quite surprised to see both these vessels in Northern Europe in winter time...

That is worthy of note. I was thinking the same thing when I saw the title of the thread. I thought they would be down here in the Caribbean cruising for the winter. But Boudicca is down here and mabe is Black Prince? so maybe they have the other two up there...

The only thing that's different is that FOCL now have 5 vessels so 2 are sailing ex UK until the New Year when the World Cruises begin. There has always been one or two here in December but maybe more noticeable with the Christmas Market cruises going north [which was done last year too] as well as the more usual Iberia/Med/Canary route. P&O also do the Christmas Market trips - didn't they start them a couple of years ago?
