Attached is OASIS booking information provided to travel agents.

There are a few interesting details. No reservations are being accepted by CruiseMatch which is RCI's online booking engine. You much call or fax the line at the special number to make the booking.

There are also some cabin details I have not read before. Glass shower enclosures, "open space" in the bathrooms, fold away night stands, storage space under the beds.

Good luck to everyone booking OASIS!

Ernie

It's truly hard to believe there are only two elevator/stair banks just like the FREEDOM/VOYAGER Class ships. Hasn't RCI learned anything? They are doing the same thing with Celebrity's Solstice Class. Two elevator/stair banks are simply not enough for ship's of this size. Much smaller ships have at least three, and QM2 even has four.

Spread the people out instead of crunching them into two sets of stairs and elevators!!!!

OASIS is going to be amazing, but this aspect of the design is very disappointing to me. I try not to use elevators, but OASIS is so big most people will not have a choice. The elevators were pretty cramped on FREEDOM, I can only imagine what they will be like on OASIS.

Hopefully, but even so it means more people on them, and more stops. Also, more people crowded into these limited elevator/stair lobbies.

Much smaller ships have far more elevator banks and lobbies, and it works so much better. It spreads people around the ship better.

Ernie, what I have shows it correct. The loft suites with balconies, and VCL are located on deck 17 and it shows the upper deck of the loft suites on deck 18.

It's confusing and I just now figured it out. When I looked at the picture below, I thought the glass on Deck 16 was actually Deck 17, which would be the lower level of the lofts. It appeared that Deck 18 was where the balconies were. Of course this goes against the picture of the Loft Suite which has the balcony on the lower level.

In actuality, I now realize the glass I thought was on Deck 17 is really the Windjammer on Deck 16. On the picture below, I guess decks 17 and 18 look like one deck in height, but they are actually two decks in height. It's making sense now. The picture of the ship just really threw me off.

Am I making any sense or have I completely lost you???

No, what you just posted made sense. The loft suites and VCL will be on both deck 17 and 18. I think that AkerBuilder even posted that somewhere on here some time ago.

I know Gordon and myself are planning to book on Thursday. My partner has no desire to go on this monster so I will sail with my brother on the inaugural.

As to how crowded or uncrowded, closed in or open the ship will feel, that all remains to be seen. A deck plan and renderings only tell a small part of the story.

I may only sail on OASIS once, but I must sail on her at least once. She is truly a floating marvel that redefines everything we know about cruising. You can love her or hate her, but there is no denying that this is a very special revolutionary ship. She will make history in many ways.

Yes i'v got a impression that elevators are slightly bigger, atleast inside elevators.
There will be 12 elevators in fore ship and 12 aft of the ship.

Gordon, did you see that? 12 and 12 is better than 10 and 10! Even so, I wish they were spread out more.

I read that. I was going by the deck plans which obviously are not to scale. It looked as though there was only space for five lifts on each side of the banks. Those four extra will be nice. Now if only they can get them to work a lot better than those of the Voyager and Freedom class. Those are some weird lifts.

I believe that these dates are the same for UK bookings:

 Diamond Plus and Diamond members may begin reserving space on August 21, 2008 at 8:00 a.m.
Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).
 All Crown and Anchor members may reserve between August 28 and September 2, 2008.
 On September 3, 2008 booking will be available to the public.

Pricing is out. A little steep especially compared to todays prices.

Now do I go for the inaugural and pay more, and go a few weeks later and pay substantially less?

I presented the question to my brother and we will decide. To be honest part of me wants to wait a few weeks. On a ship this big and new, there could be some major kinks to work out. I like to save money too!

Akerbuilder, do you happen to know what date your company is targeting for a delivery date to RCI? Also do you think that the ship could be completed early?

Original date for delivery was set to 10.09.2009, but i don't think thats possible, so i think it's gonna be a little late rather erlier delivery.
But you know we have never before delivered late from Turku, IOTS was really close but in the end we delivered 1 day ahead.
So i hope it will be on time, its to early to say, there is still little over year to go and there is million things what might go wrong.

For ex. form thursday 14.08 we are sold to STX, they have now 90% of stocks and soon you can call us STX Europe and Aker France -> STX France Cruise. So we are living in constant change.

Looking at deck 15 - what would appear to be the cantalevered jacuzzis overhanging the sea are at least the size of the main swimming pools !

Can we still call you AKer builder?

Can you talk a little about what kind of shape a ship needs to be in to be delivered? Obviously all the safety and nav related systems have to be working but as far as hospitality stuff, is there a little room to work on things on the go?

FYI for all of you Crown & Anchor members who aren't yet Diamond level--they have opened the books on OASIS as of this morning (Wednesday) for the rest of the membership, so you don't have to wait until tomorrow. I've already made several bookings today with no waiting time.

I've just booked my cabin on the inaugural. Very excited of course. In the meantime, studying the deckplans, I just realised that the Boardwalk and Central Park aren't on the same decks. For some reason I had in mind that one would simply walk through from one to the other. Boardwalk is on deck 6 with Central park on deck 8.

I realise this has been known for a while, but hadn't registered with me!
