Got the following info this morning from RCI for Crown & Anchor members:

Booking dates:
Diamond Plus & Diamond - AUG 21, 2008 - 0800 EDT
All C&A Society Members - AUG 28, 2008 - 0800 EDT
General Public - SEP 3, 2008

Deck Plans will be available to C&A members starting August 20, 2008

Cruise Dates:
DEC 12, 2009 - Inaugural (jammed with TA's)
DEC 19, 2009 - Overpriced Christmas Cruise
DEC 26, 2009 - Overpriced New Years Cruise
JAN 2, 2010 - First real priced cruise

Should be interesting couple of weeks.

I think you will find there will be plenty free Pre-Inaugurals for TAs to attend rather than them having to pay for the Inaugural.

What is bugging me today is, it is only US C&A members who are getting the above email...if you are in UK/Europe then dont bother wasting your time checking your emails because we arent getting it.

Oh and how strange it is that the RCCL UK site doesnt even mention early booking for C&A members...now why is that I wonder?

Folks, there's no panic to book, after the first few cruises there will be thousands of cabins on offer every week. There's not enough ship-nuts in the world to sell out every cruise on Oasis at break-neck speed.

So stay cool. The early cruises will probably be full to capacity. So let the staff and the operating difficulties sort themselves out and the fares drop a little.

This is the same kind of booking frenzy as when the FREEDOM first went on sale a couple of years ago. With the OASIS, we cannot even get a deck plan until the day before the books open--I have lots of Diamond-level clients who want to book, but we won't even find out pricing until August 21st. Immediate deposit will be required at time of booking, along with names and C&A #s--no name changes will be allowed.

So there are a lot of strict conditions, and unknowns, in this process. Since the ship's capacity is so high, (as well as the fares, likely) I think there will be fairly good availability for a while, so people should just relax, wait, and see.

Recognizing some of you are T/A's, any suggestions on how long to wait? Seeing the Inaugural and the two Holiday cruises would be at a premium, is the Jan 2 date late enough for pricing to be a bit more realistic and crew to be a bit more familiar with the ship.

Any options would be appreciated, this is not our first rodeo, I too have to admit I am getting a bit caught up in the "biggest ship in the world" frenzy (much to the wife's unhappiness). My assumption is the sweet spot would be Jan/Feb before the Spring/Easter break crowds start to build.

It would be just me, wife and 5 year old (third cruise for her).

Inquiring minds....

I agree with the others, there's enough rooms in Oasis for everyone who would like to sail the inaugural. If not, one can always bring over a tent and camp out in CP.

Holiday sailings on any ship are priced at a premium, and historically that first week in January is a bargain price because of less demand. Many people don't want to take off right AFTER the holidays, but by mid-Jan. and through March and early April pricing can be Peak. Then in late Spring, say through May, prices tend to go down a bit, but jump up to Peak rates for summer.

Of course all bets may be off for the OASIS--she just may prove to be a popular ship at any price, and RCI may be charging whatever the traffic will bear. But my gut feeling is that after all the hype and excitement, people may cool off once they see the pricing.

i can see how everyone might want to be on the first few sailing's aboard the oasis...frenzy that is...but what get's me is that the U.S. crown & anchore members are gettin first dib's while us canadians and overseas are the one's that have to do all the work to see if space is still available....i suppose the saying that the U.S. has the most cruiser's is true by seeing what is happening when the booking open's up.....i'm am planning to cruise aboard her next spring anyways....just the way RCI goes about doin business that get's me....jeff

The QM2 was the same, discounted fares only began to appear in year two. However, there are still going to be annual holiday peaks and lows.

Personally I would wait a few months till all the bugs have been worked out before booking.
In most cases-but maybe with the economy as it is,you would need to book 6-9 months ahead to get the cabin you wanted. In 6 months there should be a lot of cabins available. Hmm, maybe not as it will be Winter and the Carribean is a choice destination then.

Maybe they're trying to entice the Americans into travelling because by all accounts, they're then ones NOT travelling whereas the Canadians and Europeans are...just a thought. Fair - no - but could be the marketing department...
