Good Morning everyone.

05:00 it was gloriously sunny as I got up, but by 06:00 it was cloudy!

Eurodam had a very low key arrival here, I thought Carnival would have paid for a water display from the tugs, but alas no. Hopefully she will have better send off.

Here is a small selection of my photos (nothing to get excited about!)...

Brgds,
Andrew

Those on Eurodam would have had a nice view of Norwegian Jade

Familiar sight somewhat cluttered but inn most as not in al cases it's the inside that counts. And well no thrill outside she is surten a thrill inside.

I always thought that fireboat welcome was an salute by the port fore new vessels or maiden arrivals. Oh well she will get a big welcome in Rotterdam local and national news papers begin to write about here arrival next Sunday.

Thanks fore sharing those good pictures.

Greetings Ben.

Its a shame that HAL's parent (Carnival) didn't pay to get the tugs out, I'm hoping that with a departure of 16:00 tomorrow they might put on a display.
The main events planned are onboard today.

It could be of course that the main celebrations are obviously in Rotterdam and all the PR and focus will be there.

Great to see the ship, even if it does have a "familiar face"!!!

So Southampton does not give a fire-tug free on a first visit? Some ports certainly do it for nothing on a first visit, tradition. A 'display' and a number of tugs is a different matter, but a polite salute should be a matter for course. Shame there was nothing.

[When QM2 & QE2 left the other day there was a fire-tug between them, a nice gesture by the port I thought. Why would Cunard have paid? Just curious.]

Nice photos, but Eurodam is way too top heavy fwd for my liking; the bridge has to be picked out of the clutter almost. Hope she is better inside.

That's because it's not special and they're leaving the arrival celebrations to her home port. If they wanted fuss she'd have been at Southampton later in the day and for longer. It's more like a breather. Being stalked by Maxim Gorkiy this morning was better than freezing for another Vista - sorry Signature.

I am sorry to rain on this parade of acolades! But, in the bow-on photo, at least, she looks top-heavy to me. That and the repetition of parallel lines all the way aft to the stack do not make an attractive ship, IMHO, but I am open to changing my mind as I see more.

Sorry for being blunt but the front end is as ugly as her name. She needs the top 2 decks lopping off and some decent windows please.

She probably qualifies as the ugliest in the HAL fleet.

I just checked my photo files and talking about ugly, she looks the same as Queen Victoria.

Actually it is the small things that makes her much worse than the QV. The added decks above the bridge, the more built up stern. Interestingly the shear line between the blue hull paint and white superstructure matches the QV and not her HAL Vista sisters...

Sorry to disagree Willem but she is very different (albeit another Vista ish ) especially her rear end but most all her top forward - in no way can that be described as attractive in any way. And she has a sister on the way !

Please never park her next to Prinsendam. You guessed it - Cinderella and the 2 ugly sisters.

I agree she might not be the most beautiful HAL ship. But is she realy that ugly? There are many ships I did not like at first sight but they did grow on me.

I give here the benefit of the doubt. I look forward to see her live within a few days when she sails in to Rotterdam.

Thanks for posting these pictures.

No she is not. Purest here at CT speak of sheer, rounded sterns, elegant funnels, perfect preportions, and pointy elongated bows. We no longer live in the days of the Normandie and Queen Mary. Modern ship design has advanced to the 21st century, but some members cant help but continue and try to compare todays new cruise ships to yester-years liners.

There is really nothing wrong with EURODAM, including the name. But thats just my opinion.

imo she is actually quite attractive
saw her this morning but andrew's photos don't really do her justice (great though they are)!

i've always liked the HAL vistas especially the colour scheme.
and those funnels are beautiful. distinctive, modernist and unique.
far nicer than the insipid arcadia with it's retro-ish yukky coloured stack.

as she sailed past norwegian jade, i was reminded it is a delight to see no hull art and no www emblazoned on the side.

agreed very low key arrival. no real wow factor i suppose, also a bit early for most people.

There really isn't much to comment on is there? I mean she is basically another Vista which I think most of us have seen hundreds of times. I certainly would not go out of my way to see her unless I was actually boarding her for a look inside. If you like the looks of the Vista Class then no doubt you will like EURODAM. If Vista's are not to your taste then it's likely EURODAM will not appeal to you.

At first glance I felt like I was looking at QV again. Very similar and minus the funnels the average person would most likely not tell them apart. Personally I have become somewhat immune to the Vistas. I have seen them so many times they evoke little to no reaction. Even upon seeing QV for the first time before boarding, I didn't have that anticipation or excitement I normally do. On the exterior, these Vistas are a dime a dozen. I grew to like QV very much, but it was her interiors that won me over .... and no doubt the story will be the same with EURODAM.

HAL's Vistas began as reasonably attractive designs, but as they've added cabins to the stern and built higher atop the bridge, the latest incarnations are starting to look like Mr. Potato Head!
