does anyone have any practical experience of these?

eg: how restricted is the view etc?

I had a lifeboat view balcony on my 2004 voyage and did not see much.
It was a complimentary upgrade from an inside.
One will still get light and outside air. I had no complaints.

What happens here is that Cunard upgrades its repeat customers in M5 insides to the lifeboat view balcony cabins. They resell the M5's for a substantial amount to last minute bookers.

Does anyone by any chance have a picture of one of these cabins? I haven't seen any.

Many cabins have a pretty good opening between two lifeboats......utilize the deck plans in the brochure.

The brochure is a good guideline - but don't take it as final word. Have your travel agent (or yourself) verify w/ the Reservations team. Most reservations systems have all cabin information preloaded and those cabins with restricted views often have an indication of what % of the view is restricted and how.

There are also several cabins w/those two smaller boats obstructing the view. Check the deckplans for the cabin numbers.

Currently on QM2 arriving SoH tomorrow. Have friends on Deck 8, looks like best cbains are 8044, 8046,8048 and the best is 8050. Also the reverse side of the ship would be equally as good. I have photos and will post when I return
