When you look at the pictures there is a picture of an interactive video board with a map of the ship, is this new to Indy? i don't remember it on Freedom last month. Where is this video board located?

Pictures of the naming ceremony, the engine room, galley and bridge (and of greybeard and sread!) are here.
Those touch screens are all over the ship. You can select facilities from a list and the map shows you where they are located. A great idea.

Very nice pics thank you. So the touch screens are an upgrade on the interactive console ship guide they have on MSC Lirica [and others]?

I saw Independence pass the AIS cam tonight, and had a few texts from Patsy aboard, all going well.

Liberty features one of those interactive TVs at the Fitness Center entrance and so does Freedom. I'm not sure that either ship uses them anywhere else. Where else does Independence have them?

Thanks for the pictures, IOTS is great, just like her sisters. Yes, Liberty has the interactive tv's at the entrance to the fitness center, I don't remember if Freedom had them too althought there were similar tv's but not interactive around the guest relations area.

Sread: nice images, but...

1) Why are you sucking your thumb like a baby?

2) Why is graybeard waving one arm in the air?

3) The Gala buffet sheet was interesting - the end of an era!

It was party time, Malcolm
And two days of unlimited free bar service can do crazy things to an addled brain.

I have posted a selection of images in the Cruisetalk gallery.

Take a look here . . .

These and additional pictures in larger format are also viewable here . . .

Yes some nice images! So which line throws the best Media parties?

I know that RCI certainly have some excellent production and ice shows.

Very nice photos Greybeard, thanks. Steve Redgrave is a nice guy by all accounts. 2 days of unlimited free bar service must have cost a pretty penny or two for RCI, perhaps they could have shown a bit more appreciation towards their actual paying pax and given them at least a decent Maiden Voyage freebie. What did they get? An 'Inaugural Season' Baseball Cap. Whatever happened to a little something special?

[NB - Perhaps these touch screens are not such a good idea. I understand there are no mini deck plans at all and one is directed to these screens if you ask for one. So, no sitting at a table to see where you are going next, no walking around plan in hand exploring, no sitting in the cabin looking through [even if on the in cabin TV, other occupants may not wish to change channel]. Instead you have to spend time finding, using and maybe even waiting your turn for a screen. I would hope that it is merely a case of they have run out or not yet got them printed, rather than there aren't going to be any at all.. anyone know?]

Greybeard - nice pictures. That dining room looked impressive. Though I imagine that in fact one you were sat down you'd only be aware of the area around you.

One other thing - how are you finding the EOS 450D?

You had better hang on to them as they are the only ones issued and will not be available for cruises. RCI are apparently not doing them any more on any of their ships.

None on ebay yet, either.

Though if you don't mind the fact that it was stolen from the cabin, you could buy this IotS book . . .

There are now, Greybeard. I spoke to Julie, head of Guest Relations, yesterday and she told me about the ones around your neck. Last year on Navigator we only got a folding one at the ship tour. They didn't give them out otherwise.

Some people on Ventura's maiden were saying their salt and pepper set and paper certificate was superior after that terrible baseball cap. Men loved it, women hated it. After the certificate in a frame and the cruise DVD as well, they went off the salt and pepper set. Apparently it only has the name of the designer on rather than ship and date. Higher Portunus members had a mug with the ship and their name on.

Did you all speak to Elizabeth Hill? She was on the maiden with her daughter and husband. She is so nice and still overwhelmed by it all but loved the trip.

We just got back of the maiden Patsy as well, great weekend wasnt it? We had a great time.

The baseball caps were slightly naff, but the other bits including the presentation folder with picture etc was excellent, really impressed with that :-)

Oh and if you look at the Cruise review video, on day one, the bit where they show everyone at Muster, there is a bit where they do some panning, and there is a guy with a red polo shirt on with the lifejacket round his neck, thats ME!!!!! :-)

I'll look out for that, James. I'm there too at muster waving like a loony as he told us too. There's an elderly lady to my left and my glasses had darkened with the light. I was disappointed there wasn't much of the arrival into Cobh shown considering how long the cameraman filmed where I was. Did you get wet as well from the firetug? I was also surprised they didn't include the departure. What a send off! Very bad timing having first sitting at the same time. When they axed Guernsey they should have planned it better. I had to laugh at the start of the DVD when the narration says Southampton built Queen Mary and Titanic. I bet even H&W and JB didn't know that. They were still trying to get people to pre-order yesterday morning. I wonder ow many realised it was free in the end and asked for a refund? Did you see Black Watch arrive on Sunday during the crew drill? How rude of her to blast to herself but not to us. Even Pont Aven gave us a few toots when she left. Did you go to Rock Britannia? Ice show? I had a ticket for Sunday's ice show but dozed off so missed it. I went to the C&A preview show yesterday which was good but the Russian fell over a few times. Apparently he did the day before. I ache all over but it was fantastic. Having done Navigator at least I knew my way around but these big ships are exhausting. I spoke to an old lady yesterday. She said she was on Navigator and hated it. Then she booked Indy and hated that. I asked why she booked it but she didn't reply. I also overheard while entering the restaurant on Friday and old man grumbling it wasn't like Saga. How come? There were plenty of pensioners around so he should have felt right at home.
