I second Pam's comments, Aad. What a fantastic photo the last one is. How rough was the sea? We had it bad going back on the ferry. I look forward to them finishing QE2's boot topping. It looks better than Friday but still rusty in places. At least her funnel is gleaming. They painted it on Sunday.

At least it didn't rain. It must have known.

It was absolute worth the travel. We had a wonderfull day in Southampton. We had plenty of sun, smooth sailing and wow.... the 3 ships. It was unbelievable. It was a wonderfull experience although in a way it was sad to hear QE2 say goodbye to the 2 other ships.

But boy am I glad we went.

It still seems to me that QM2's funnel color is not the correct Cunard "red." QE2 and QV seem correct.

I would like to go to Southampton again... aber more than 13 years! In 1994 I was by train, because my father worked at German Railways, so was cheaper... but now? What is the best way to come from here (Germany) to Southampton? Aad, a tip from you? Ferry, plane? Thank you very much.

I was saying, strangely QE2 looks very colourful especially at her boot. It is good to see that even though her career is coming to an end that they are still spending time taking care of her. I do not know the last day I saw men hanging from the funnel of QE2 painting it.

One comment or question, what is the tarp structure on the aft deck?

Aad, a tip from you?

We went by airplane. From the airport to the city we went by bus for 1 Pound 20 per person for a 1 way ticket. It brings you very close to the harbour.

cruiseshipluver, they're replacing decking I think. The weather had been horrible so perhaps that's why it was covered. We were wondering too when we saw it on Sunday from Oceana.

Aad, I know what you mean. They sailed away while she stayed where she was. It was good to see so many people from all over rather than just locals. I'm still in touch with a couple from Essex we spoke to. It was an excellent day. You will be able to tell people about that for many years and show them your superb photos. A memory to treasure.

Ernie, me too. She still has such an overwhelming presence. Opinion was split when I'd been listening to people at Mayflower Park and later Town Quay. Everyone loved the QE2. A few didn't like QM2. Most hated QV. They all enjoyed the day though. It even made a couple from Selsey think about coming back on the 2nd.

I see US Cunard have it on the site now after ignoring it until it happened. Has it been picked up in the media there?
