I've been told Oceanic II will be turned into Mona Lisa in drydock in Rotterdam next week. Does anybody has more info if this is true and if so where in Rotterdam she will go in drydock?

That's VERY interesting news Aad! Maybe I can catch her on camera at Hoek van Holland or something...

Is her season as "the scholar ship" already over? What will she be doing this summer then? Sailing for Lord Nelson Kreuzfahrten?

Groeten,
Ralph

I wanted to go to Amsterdam 19.04... three ships! SCHOLARSHIP, JEWEL OF THE SEAS and FUNCHAL........ but now I see: OCEANIC II (so the SCHOLARSHIP) is expected 4:00 instead of 09.00..... Ceres Terminal I wanted to see her arrival and see the other ships leaving in the evening..... but now???? very disappointing..... and FUNCHAL: I do not know how many chances there would be..... Solas 2010? She will survive, I think.... but who know??

One of the duty managers at PTA told me she will go in drydock in Rotterdam . I know according to the schedule she'll be a few days at Ceres terminal but the duty manager says that plan has changed. The problem is I cannot find any info about the drydocking.

Surely they are not implying that the people behind the hotel project have yet to do a detailed survey of the ship !

If so I have to say the people involved are surely not serious people.

We have said a few times that while they may have the money in theory to buy the ship it does not appear they have the money for refurb, refit, shore operations etc which is likely to be more than the cost of the ship - if it is they have not even done a detailed survey of the ship they cannot then have the slightest clue how much refurb is required or the cost ! Seeing as she is mean't to retire at the end of 09 it does not give one much faith in their ability to pull this project off.

Mike SA: They have done detailed inspections before when the ship was in Pireus. For example they had swedish firemarshalls inspecting the ship etc. This inspection is the first one while the ship is in dry dock. They claim to have all financing ready. Both bying the ship and the rest. The only thing remaining is to get a go on the location of the ship. There is a small possibility that it will be Stockholm instead of Gothenburg according to the latest news. From what i read the goal is to have a final agreement signed with her current owners before summer

Oceanic II is no longer scheduled for the Ceres Terminal.
Disembarkation will happen at an alternative quay.
This might be on Java-island. I will find out tomorrow

First it was said CERES Terminal; then she was listed in the expected ships list for WATERLAND KADE, now it was changed again to BERINGHAVEN VCK FERRY 1.

No word of JEWEL OF THE SEAS? She is not in the expected ships list until now... ???

I called to the locks Ijmuiden.

Oceanic II is expected 05:00 at pilot station, but not confirmed at this moment by the captain.
She will go to Westhaven.

Jewel of the Seas will come very early, around 02:00 pilot station, so around 05.00 PT Amsterdam.

Departure of Jewel of the Seas will be 18:00, Funchal 19:00
