EXECUTIVE EXPLORER was sold to Majestic America Line and renamed CONTESSA. (MAL also bought COLUMBIA QUEEN from Glacier Bay's sister company.) She was in service in 2007 but had dismal sales and is now laid-up, though I'm not sure where.

I haven't a clue about the other three.

WILDERNESS EXPLORER was sold last year to a buyer who I don't recall the name of but which I believe intends to return the vessel to a similiar type operation as she was with GBC. (mostly kayakers)

WILDERNESS ADVENTURER and WILDERNESS DISCOVERER are both still for sale in Seattle. Since they have lingered on the market for sometime now, I don't know where they might end up or how much they will ultimately sell for? Washington Mutual Bank is the current owner of both and I have heard wants to get them off the books so would be very interested in most any cash offer but I have also heard that the vessels each are in need of substantial remedial work to make them suitable to reenter service.

You can see a broker's listing for each here:

WILDERNESS ADVENTURER

WILDERNESS DISCOVERER

The biggest problem with puting them back into service is that the very small cruise vessel market is moving away from the very simple and spartan Blount built vessels to more upscale ones and even Cruise West would like to shed its Blount boats but they just can't bring themselves to accept the need for newbuilding vessels to upgrade their fleet and thus result in buying all the other old boats out there (hence the NANTUCKET and YORKTOWN CLIPPER). Of course now after buying those two, there are no other existing vessels out there other than more Blount boats. If American Cruise Line which is one tenth the size of Cruise West can build new, why the heck can't the 900# gorilla in the min-cruise business do the same?

Mike

These two ships would be perfect for cruising B.C.'s Coast and amongst the Islands from Victoria clear up to Prince Rupert, these two could not fit a market like that more better. BC's coast is a True destination in itself, very good fishing areas, hunting, kayaking...omg..so much to do.No adventure company has ever taken advantage of BC's beauty. Their are many smaller inlets that no big ship can fit into, I think Exploration Cruise Lines did this many years ago sailing out of Seattle up the BC Coast to Prince Rupert.

These cruises are quite expensive (start around $2600 per person cruise only) and fall between the cracks for most cruisers looking to hit Alaska or the Canadian Pacific coast on a budget. I know Cruise West also does cruises to B.C. from Vancouver and Seattle.

here

When I was on Cruise West Spirit of Oceanus we hit Prince Rupert and parts of B.C. It was by far one of the best cruises I have ever taken.
